I am currently reading "The Water Dancer" by Ta-Nehisi Coates. If you want to explore the historical fiction genre or in need of a good read that pulls at one's very spirit, this is the book for you. Hiram is a slave living on a plantation in Virginia with a photographic memory. He can remember any and every single thing with the exception of his lovely mother, who was bought and sold by another family. Dealing with all the challenges that comes with life situation, Hiram lives in a space of hope and faith, which also leads him to connect with the right people for him to gain his freedom as well as fall in love. And just FYI, Harriet Tubman makes a significant appearance in this book. As a spoiler, they are working together to free enslaved folk throughout the South to bring them North. The twists and turns offered in this book is pure. Mr. Coates' focus is usually non-fiction, but he has definitely made a significant contribution to the fiction world with his freshman novel. #HappyReading
