"Started James A Michener's 1959 historical novel "Hawaii" in prep for our family's first trip there in a week. The first short section deals with the evolutionary process of the islands' formation. The next section, which I am in, covers ancient peoples from Bora Bora, located south of the Hawaiian islands, and how Michener imagines they lived, including sacrifices to their god Oro.
