But first this review was previously a rant so I want to sum it up in one sentence: this book is what Twisted Lies tried to be, but couldn't
Like if you liked the concept of Twisted Lies, but hated the execution, you'll probably love this book; the plot is unhinged (in an entertaining way though), the characters are more flushed out and likable and basically this book just managed to stand on its own where Twisted Lies fell flat.

As for why I didn't like this book-well...
First of all, morally grey is just not my thing (not dregatory by any means, just my opinion)
Second, I didn't fall in love with the characters (again not the characters' fault per day or the author's for that matter, we just didn't click; I really don't know why)
Third, I am definitely biased, but I also genuinely feel like the characters would fit better in a lighter setting rather than morally grey
Fourth and last, this book belongs in a different series. I think that's the best way to put it really. This realization began to sink in when I found myself hunting for cameos from the previous KOS rather than reading the story itself, again this is not the books fault at all; it's just that the "found family" element that I am apparently a sucker for ( wow you really learn to value things when you lose them) was starkly absent, like I would absolutely rather read Jordan's book than the next one (view spoiler) because I really liked him and the friendship or dare I say the brotherhood ( I'm sorry, but I had to) he has with Vuk was amazing. I understand the need for suspense to get us excited and theorising about whose book it will be next, but I rather know while getting to know and like the characters than be surprised, and I don't know why it's always the FMCs like we already know and like Asher and Sebastian, but I don't know who Scarlett or Maya are and honestly; it's harder for me to care and look I understand you can't realistically have seven friends and be that close, but you could always write sequels about family or even failing that, this book could've introduced a new group of friends for the rest of the series (like the Striker) and yeah Ayana and Vuk are pretty isolated and it's part of their story or whatever, but gaah you lost me tbh. Now this book got me sad because it marked the end of an era for me without introducing more characters to like for the next books except for Sebastian.
I will be coming back if the synopsis is interesting or if it's for a character I actually like *aka Roman*.

Ooh and lastly while reading, I take notes on my notes app for reviews and whatnot and the first time I read about Emmaneulle I was like this is the Dolores Umbridge of the Anaverse I can't unsee it, then I got to the end and I was like (view spoiler) so yeah, you might be cool enough to be a villain, but real villains are cool enough to pull off pink, too ...more "
