"Each evening I read a "Song," which makes this doorstop of a tome go quickly. Not that I want it to. I feel like the characters are real people, which is a high compliment for a book. I was getting memories of Roots and feeling a bit guilty, like I was comparing the best known novel about slavery to this author's, which seemed diminishing, but then she threw in a reference to Kunte Kinte as if to say, it's OK." — Feb 04, 2026 03:20PM

"Plodding along with this, certainly a well done folk horror novel but I never seem to want to read more than a chapter a time. Still, it's unlaike any book I've ever read" — 4 hours, 13 min ago
