"My love for this book is immense and I want to shout out to the world about it. 🥺

Also very interesting bit of how calico came from Calicut. My understanding was Kozhikode became Calicut cuz the invaders(Portugese was it?) called it so. So the origin of the word in English could be not direct? Hmm gotta find out. Also interesting how tufan & tarjama came from Arabic. Didn't guess chitti was Marathi either."

“It's okay to change," I interrupted, "but it's not okay to hide, to bury parts of ourselves.”
Sarah Penner, The Lost Apothecary

“The Japanese word ikigai is formed of two Japanese characters, or kanji: 'iki' meaning life, and 'gai' meaning came or worth. Ikigai, then, is the value of life, or happiness in life. Put simply, it's the reason you get up in the morning.”
Yukari Mitsuhashi, Ikigai: Giving every day meaning and joy

Matt Haig
“She tried to make herself look as presentable as it was possible to look in the two seconds before the arrival of a man she simultaneously slept with every night and also hadn't ever slept with. Schrödinger's husband, so to speak.”
Matt Haig, The Midnight Library

“Even if we are tempted to focus on the events that seem most significant in our lives overall, each major event wouldn't happen without the smaller moments leading up to it.”
Yukari Mitsuhashi, Ikigai: Giving every day meaning and joy

Sarah Penner
“Did everything reinvent itself over time? It was beginning to seem like every person, every place, carried an untold story with long-buried truths resting just beneath the surface.”
Sarah Penner, The Lost Apothecary
