I finished this book which is actually a book within a book. In my opinion it would have been a better read if only the journals describing a courtesan’s life in the Belle Époque period of Paris were the story. The angst of relationships of the narrator was akin to a junior high romance best left undescribed. Good idea poorly executed. Would not recommend
