The problem is that it is often assumed that the eradication of the legal apparatus is equivalent to the abolition of racism. But racism persists in a framework that is far more expansive, far vaster than the legal framework.
This is an interesting point. It's easy to assume that once racism is removed from the legal framework, there is no space for it to show and severely impact the livelihoods of people. But racist practices, biases and prejudices within institutional and sociocultural structures can still permeate society and impair minority racial groups.
