“…You see, my dear friend, I am made up of contradictions, and I have reached a very mature age without resting upon anything positive, without having calmed my restless spirit either by religion or philosophy. Undoubtedly I should have gone mad but for music. Music is indeed the most beautiful of all Heaven's gifts to humanity wandering in the darkness. Alone it calms, enlightens, and stills our souls. It is not the straw to which the drowning man clings; but a true friend, refuge, and comforter, for whose sake life is worth living”
― Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky

“But the heart has its own memory and I have forgotten nothing.”
― Albert Camus, The Fall

“Akılla bir konuşmam oldu dün gece;
Sana soracaklarım var, dedim;
Sen ki her bilginin temelisin,
Bana yol göstermelisin
Yaşamaktan bezdim, ne yapsam?
Birkaç yıl daha katlan, dedi
Nedir; dedim bu yaşamak?
Bir düş, dedi; birkaç görüntü.
Evi barkı olmak nedir? dedim;
Biraz keyfetmek için
Yıllar yılı dert çekmek, dedi.
Bu zorbalar ne biçim adamlar? dedim;
Kurt, köpek, çakal makal, dedi.
Ne dersin bu adamlara, dedim;
Yüreksizler, kafasızlar, soysuzlar, dedi.
Benim bu deli gönlüm, dedim;
Ne zaman akıllanacak?
Biraz daha kulağı burkulunca, dedi.
Hayyam'ın bu sözlerine ne dersin, dedim;
Dizmiş alt alta sözleri,
Hoşbeş etmiş derim, dedi.”
― Ömer Hayyam, Dörtlükler - Rubailer

“The demand to give up the illusions about its condition is the demand to give up a condition that needs illusions”
― Karl Marx
