Book cover for Unplanned: The Dramatic True Story of a Former Planned Parenthood Leader's Eye-Opening Journey across the Life Line
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We ...more

This book was incredibly interesting. I had seen the movie, but I appreciated the personal perspective. It felt repetitive and could maybe use a trim down, but I appreciated the authentic nature of the narrative. I would have enjoyed some more facts from behind the scenes (hard numbers and such) but I understand the nature of her confidentiality agreement. Abby's words about the semantics of Planned Parenthood 'making abortion rare' being out of step with their actual bottom line mentality reminds me of banks, trying to sell services. I am realizing how effective Planned Parenthood is at selling their brand and am praying about how I can influence the young women in my circle towards a life-honoring value system.

“That all things are possible to him who believes, that they are less difficult to him who hopes, they are more easy to him who loves, and still more easy to him who perseveres in the practice of these three virtues.”

“Everyone wants a revolution. No one wants to do the dishes.”

Brother Lawrence
“I told you, in my last, that He sometimes permits bodily diseases to cure the distempers of the soul. Have courage then: make a virtue of necessity: ask of GOD, not deliverance from your pains, but strength to bear resolutely, for the love of Him, all that He should please, and as long as He shall please.”
Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God
