Depicting gay sex as a gladiatorial contest was a way for some homosexual men to assure themselves that they could fuck other men without compromising their masculinity, as if violence was the defining characteristic of manhood. I didn’t buy it because I’d had the example of my father, a violent, brutal man, who choked on the fumes of his own rage like someone trapped in a burning building.

At least I can still find time to listen to audiobooks. 😆

I have been working my way through MIchael Nava's Henry Rios series and have enjoyed each and every one of them. The title of this book tells you it's going to be an emotional roller coaster of loss.
