Why even bother...

So there are some weird tonal shifts going on. First bros playing basketball, with gratuitous descriptions of sculpted torsos. Then horny werewolves. Then elementary school flashbacks. Now they are encountering fae forest spirits, collecting sacred acorns. And the ex-marines schtick seems super-tacked on. Do ex-marines often pursue forestry? Who are these characters and what is this story?

This is not what I was expecting, but damn it all, if it’s not a fantastic plot so far!

It took a while to get there, but mercy! It was worth it. *fans self*

Second time through on these. I remembered I liked it, but not the details. That means it’s time for a refresher!

Not bad. Not bad at all. Gonna check out the sequel now.

I can't decide if this book is brilliant or incredibly stupid.

This is not what I expected. I am loving this book!
