Iowa City in October ranges from 60° to 40°F, but this book makes it seem like they're in Siberia. "She'd freeze to death in the frozen tundra." There is no tundra in Iowa. And she's not going to freeze in 40° weather, even 35° weather is not particularly dangerous right away. Don't get me wrong, Iowa gets freaking cold, but not in the middle of October.
