Volume 28 of Kaguya-sama may be under-rated, but the messages it gives to readers is truly worth it!

Aka Akasaka has so many important messages in Volume 25 to Volume 28 of Kaguya-sama. He may have cut-off the series short (it could have lasted for two more years or ten more volumes up to Volume 30). But, his messages resonate throughout the second half of the series (my favourite part) because it speaks about growing up, taking responsibility, and accepting your flaws.

This nostalgic chapter showcasing all these characters is just a dream for me. I can never experience this kind of event in my life when I'm looking back. There's nothing for me to look back on as I don't have many fond memories of my past. That's why, reading this chapter is difficult for me. I'm still a kid and I'm still in the phase of growing up from my teenage mind.

In any case, this chapter is a flasforward in the future. It's a dream sequence (while Ai Hayasaka is asleep). But, her dream sequence in this chapter is clearly a flashforward showcasing all the characters' futures. Nagisa graduated while raising her son (whom she named after her best friend, Maki-kun). What else? And, Kobachi is in graduate school?! Man, that's impressive.

Sure, she has her own timeline, but she's trying to live out her best life. 😌

re-read Chapter 276 (5th out of 10 chapters) Volume 28 on May 20, 2024 on guya.moe First of all, I can't believe that Miko Iino turned out to be a hard drinker and a party-goer. Second, Ai Hayasaka had the longest youth ever. The afterword of the chapter did say that she's compensating for her youth by traveling and not working. But, she's experiencing the longest youth ever.

Kaguya-sama in the second half of the series is so much better than the first half. Aka Akasaka has so many relevant messages for the youth! I'm glad I picked up this manga even after two years have passed already since its finale.

Correction: re-read Chapter 275 (4th out of 10 chapters) Volume 28 on May 20, 2024 on guya.moe "We will all continue to grow." That's the message of this chapter as demonstrated by Kobachi Osaragi and Miko Iino. The afterword on Kobachi Osaragi echoes the same message. Kobachi's just an 18-year girl, but she has decided to change for the better. Her desire to do better is already an exemplary form of maturity.

The other thing I'd like to add is that Nagisa and Maki remind me a lot of Kana and Akane, respectively (characters that Aka Akasaka also wrote in the [Oshi no Ko] series. The spat between Nagisa and Maki (over Tsubasa) echoes that of Kana and Akane (over Aqua) in the latest chapter of [Oshi no Ko]: Chapter 149.

re-read Chapter 274 (3rd out of 10 chapters) Volume 28 on May 19, 2024 on guya.moe Maki is such a mature character. No wonder Nagisa possesses a devout admiration to her. Maki is as strong and beautiful as she is kind. Her spat with Nagisa only makes sense, "What idiot would hand their boyfriend over?" 😠

In the afterword (Nagisa's profile) of this chapter, Nagisa feels intense admiration for Maki-san (feelings even above Tsubasa). But, her sincerity to genuinely reflect on her own actions is the first real step that she took to signal to Maki, "Maki: I care about you more than Tsubasa."

re-read Chapter 273 (2nd out of 10 chapters) Volume 28 on May 19, 2024 on guya.moe I have never liked Nagisa in the series. I think she's a very bad friend to Maki-san (since she stole Tsubasa away from her). Regardless of the excuses Nagisa is opening to Kaguya, Nagisa shows some level of maturity.

The afterword (Volume 18) or Kei Shirogane profile summarizes Kei's past relationship with her mom, and why Kei made the decision to return to Miyuki and their father.

re-read Chapter 272 (1st out of 10 chapters) Volume 28 on May 19, 2024 on guya.moe Kei is already mature as a teenager. Explaining her and Miyuki's situation to her idealistic mom, "We don't need to be geniuses." shows some level of her maturity. Sure, she names Miyuki as "Dumbass" on her phone. But, the way that Kei spoke to her mom calmly and respectfully --- now that is something to be admired.

The final volume! Have been with this series for years, started with it when the anime released back in 2019. I'm torn up that it's ending, it's such a fun series!

Me encantó el final atendiendo a cada personaje. Es curioso, mi favorita sigue siendo Ai Hayasaka, que no es la prota de esta historia.

"grug sad to see things end, but such is the way of life. all things must draw to a close, but it is that very fleeting nature that gives such things value... the good times of the past should be treasured, but never forget to look forward too. the destination has come, but grug think the next journey will be delightful too, and looks forward to see whatever it might be."
