He must have made some kind of shocked and strangled noise, because Markos turned quickly and then gasped. “I believe,” the person coming toward them said,“you came here to find me.”

Fuck! That was hard to read!

Markos seems so kind;I'm really curious to see how this evolves.But he definitely is Loki's OPPOSITE :P

ONE of the things Vasilios hated most was when the family turned matters of discipline over to him. [..]He couldn’t flinch, Vasilios thought, no matter how much he wanted to. The boy was young, stupid, and scared out of his mind, and Gods, but Vasilios didn’t want to do this.

My heart goes out for Vasilios; can't imagine how difficult that must be..

I can't believe how romantic and also arousing this book is. Vasilios and Markos haven't even kissed, I tell you. But when they tenderly and innocently touch each other, my toes start to curl.

He must have dozed off, because he woke with someone's hands stroking across his head. He was lying on the bench now among the cushions, and he blinked, looking up at Markos who was smiling down at him.

Oh ooh! *bites lips* Oh ooh... I really feel Vasilios had it bad enough. Make it all better, please!

He licked his lips and felt his throat go dry."—I would like us to be equals," he said, voice barely above a whisper, hoping he wasn't saying or doing the totally wrong thing in this situation. "I would like to be able to say no."

He touched his hand... Oh my God! He did.
Now this is only amazing if you know the setting, of course... WOW. He actually touched his hand.

Can't wait for MORE, for when all caution gets thrown to the wind. I... I hope... Oh this would be so cool, if Vasilios would take the initiative, although it does not fit his role and character at all. But... Ohhh, let's see. I can't wait to find out.

This is a very interesting setting. Slow build. Can't wait to see how Vasilios and Markos will find together and make it all work.

For those who have gone into the desert and those who have come out of it.

Well. Well. I am impressed. Last fifty pages are just so... Yes. I avoided this book for so long, distracted by other, shiner looking books with direct blurb and reviewer appeal for me, but this one! This one was the true prize.

Okay, I'm back. I think that scene has sufficiently been seared into my brain. Now, I'm noticing that the last two dreams V has had have strong biblical imagery: one from the old testament (fruit, snake, tree, course of action) and one from the new testament (angel tellin mother of Christ not to be afraid and that her lord hears her cries).

Sweet merciful heavens, that was fucking intense. Beyond intense. I'm exhausted. I need to just... close my eyes and rest a minute, catch my breath and think a spell, before reading on. (Of course, after I rest, I'll pick this book up and start again... by rereading that scene. The build up to it made it all the more... More. (Imagine the pitiful wrenches watching this scene unfold!)

Dear lord, this scene is giving me waves and waves of angst empathy: flushed clenches and sick to my stomach thinking of v! God, but it's powerful. So good.

Now I'm the one chanting: oh my god oh my god oh my god! Nooooo! This is fucking wild! My eyes! Like this: O_O and then, like this: T_T! Ominous Feeling has come to fruition: V was going to be A's whipping boy. Or just all 'round "take all my negative self feelings out on you" object. Motivation galore. And, I must comment on the author's clever interweaving of hope and foreshadowing with V's conversations with N.
