OK so admittedly I read this once over in a kind of fever dream, realized I was missing some context, read through half the essays in (the Derrida essay collection) Psyche II, skimmed a bunch of secondary reading, and I'm back now. So like sure 70 pages but also like 150 or so page detour in between. Gotta register it all with the big Other.

Picked it up this afternoon, for lack of wanting to read something not Heidegger related (the stuff about Aristotle I should be writing a term paper on, ish), and also because I had gotten into a fight-ish about Heideggers politics, and it’s *really* good. I’m about halfway through the Spirit essay. Then I thought it would be good to rewrite parts of my MA to diss Klossowski’s translation of H’s Nietzsche

'Doch was ist der Geist?' Heidegger indeed asks. What is spirit? 'Der Geist ist das Flammende.' [...] How to translate? Spirit is what inflames?

All the pitfalls of the strategy of establishing demarcations belong to this program [of a 'metaphysics of subjectity' underlying human rights and democracy vis-a-vis their opposition to racism and fascism], whatever place one occupies in it. The only choice is the choice between the terrifying contaminations it assigns. Even if all forms of complicity are not equivalent, they are irreducible.
