I really want to know what happens in the story but this author keeps repeating the same thing 😭 drives me crazy

I don't want to stop reading but I'm falling asleep 😭

Promising premise. Loved the sick Little with the weak immune system heroine. I’m a sucker for a damsel in distress heroine, but eh, the writing was flat and a lot of telling. Gave it a really solid shot, but while I love the concept, the writing was lacklustre and the heroine’s friend was noxious and unbearable.

Here’s an example: “As a doctor, I think about all situations a person can be in and I like to be prepared for everything. Being over prepared is better than not being prepared. It does a person no good for me to be underprepared and they die. Too much guilt.” 

This looks like someone who was in high school wrote this story. The sentence structure is awkward or just wrong.

There’s a difference between mean and strict. Their reaction when she was in the “hospital” was just pure mean. So much yelling and swearing. No care, no soft words. They didn’t even bring her the elephant!
