Finally back with this in a more attentive state of mind. Different for me to read what is a kind of noir/suspense title set in Yemen. Always good to see books that break out of the "literary" box from in this case an Egyptian writer make it to market. Took a break because I read an earlier scene in which it was noted the hospital staff had pagers too close to the Israeli terrorist attack in Lebanon...

Half way through

Picked up steam around p90. So far...its the standard fare--- a man who has lost everything in his normal life, including his license to practice medicine somehow thinks it would be a good idea to go to Yemen and serve as a surgeon with some unnamed ngo. It will help him overcome years of crippling loneliness, an opioid addiction, and set him on a healing journey. 🤷‍♀️
