—for a story about how things being messy sometimes is a good thing, this book was neat as a PIN. Definitely could’ve used more chaotic energy, but I did enjoy this, in its own way. Torn between 2 stars and 3, so I’ll be generous

lit. I’d prolly go 2.5? Honestly, I think this book would’ve been a lot more fun with like a FEW simple changes. 1. Interacting more with mermaid-Leo/adding more scenes to make it feel more atmospheric. 2. The big thing is that Miranda is always choosing the safe option, and not much happens that’s truly out of the ordinary, like it all felt pretty plausible. 3. Less formal dialogue 4. Faster pacing. wanted to start a new book but thought it would be good to do some housekeeping and finish this…or percy jackson…sort of into it though rn lol. Totally trash but kinda cozy in a way

The mythological aspects did not work. We weren’t even sure if it was true?? The heroine started out likable & responsible and became your typical YA heroine. We didn’t even get answers on things, like the hero or the heroine’s family. This needed way more world building. And to top it off we don’t even really know the HEA.

This needs actual world building. Almost no clues to go on & the heroine suspects the hero is a merman! And she’s supposed to be all scientific and logical! She’s nothing but a typical annoying bratty teenager. Super wishy washy about the love interests.

Not just instalove but an instalove triangle. Ugh. Could really do without both those things.

I’ve had this book for years and I’m finally getting around to reading it! It’s ok so far, not liking the side characters, feels like there’s gonna be some drama there. Not a fan of instalove. Build your story first!!
