Not what I thought it was going to be...

This book is all tell and no show. It's just walls of text explaining the world building or background info on the chars... I keep skimming til I find dialog ugh

at the moment my full sympathy belongs to Marcus.
Alex is unfair and no matter what Marcus does, he can't win

I really really had high hopes for this, but at this point only stubbornness is keeping me from dnf.

It's all about Alex and his grief and it's starting to look like the whole book is nothing but how he can't get over Theo. That's the whole point of this book, and it's getting tiresome. When do things move on and be about Alex and Marcus, or this supposed mystery, as the blurb suggests?

Interesting setup and world building, but I’m having a hard time getting a handle on where the main characters are coming from, aside from a single defining personality trait for each of them. Pacing is pretty slow so far too.
