Interesting setup and world building, but I’m having a hard time getting a handle on where the main characters are coming from, aside from a single defining personality trait for each of them. Pacing is pretty slow so far too.

Even at 73% I'm starting to see why this book's ratings are hovering around 3.7. Interesting characters, interesting setup...then little character development, agonizingly slow resolution, multiple plot threads in the background, then boom - a plot development that would take a whole other book to address, but none of the previous plot lines have even been resolved to begin with. This is going to lead to a way-too-rushed ending, I can tell right now.
