So like when does the Plot happen

It's meandering

We are WAY too far into the book for the author to just now be revealing that Brock has an undefined foreign accent. Also where could he possibly be from. He's called Brock.

I do think part of the issue with this aside from the inexcusable grammar issues is that the two guys read extremely similarly like they're both abusive weirdos

Inexcusable grammatical errors aside the narrator characters do at least have very clear voices

There are just generally way too many perspective characters

I know this guy is supposed to be unlikable but Jesus fucking Christ he SUCKS

I've neither read nor seen Gone Girl so I really hope the author doesn't expect me to know it. Also repeatedly bringing up real media ages pieces like this in a way that doesn't feel particularly intentional

Alright I am deeply confused by this book club set up

But for a native English speaker there are some genuinely unforgivable grammatical issues in this that should never have made it to print

In my head this was a fantasy novel and apparently it's not so that's a little bit jarring but good gd this character sucks (I do think he's supposed to)
