We don't think of Adoration as a 'battle' but according to St. Peter-Julian Eymard, the saint of Eucharistic Adoration, persisting in adoration when it seems like we are wasting our time, even dishonoring God by our dryness and lack of enthusiasm for being there, this is known as 'adoration in battle'. At such times, we give great joy to God by remaining.

Eucharistic adoration makes us pass from "I" to "thou". It is inappropriate for begin by asking Jesus graciously to hear our will. Rather let us ask him to enlighten us about his will and to give us the grace to accomplish it.

When I read this before I do not recall St. Thomas Aquinas' comparison of Isaac's blessing and Transubstantiation. What a mind he had! He allows that it is not the only interpretation for that story, but it does make for an interesting comparison as well as shed light on the mystery,
