When I read this before I do not recall St. Thomas Aquinas' comparison of Isaac's blessing and Transubstantiation. What a mind he had! He allows that it is not the only interpretation for that story, but it does make for an interesting comparison as well as shed light on the mystery,

We don't think of Adoration as a 'battle' but according to St. Peter-Julian Eymard, the saint of Eucharistic Adoration, persisting in adoration when it seems like we are wasting our time, even dishonoring God by our dryness and lack of enthusiasm for being there, this is known as 'adoration in battle'. At such times, we give great joy to God by remaining.

Eucharistic adoration makes us pass from "I" to "thou". It is inappropriate for begin by asking Jesus graciously to hear our will. Rather let us ask him to enlighten us about his will and to give us the grace to accomplish it.

"You are in great error; for while you may, it is true, pray in your dwelling, you will not, however, do it as well as in the church." -St. John Chrysostom

An adorer testifies: "At the beginning, I thought that adoration meant loving God greatly. But the Lord made me understand that he desires above all that I let myself be loved in my miseries and my faults. For me this is so much more demanding. Letting Jesus look at me, hold me, lead me to God his Father-that is adoration in spirit and in truth!"

The dry wood of the Cross, which represents sin and death, becomes the new tree of Life that bears as fruit the Eucharist, living and life-giving food. What was lost by the first sin is recovered by the Eucharist, and to a greater degree.

What amazes those weak in faith and scandalizes unbelievers, is that Jesus still desires to remain with us, and in a state more humbled, more dejected than at Bethlehem, or even than at Calvary. Let us raise with respect the mysterious veil that covers the Holy of Holies and try to understand the excess of love that the Lord shows for us … in the Blessed Sacrament, he lowers himself even more. -St. Peter Eymard

‘And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father! … Behold, the fire and the wood; but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”’ (Genesis 22:7) ‘Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John bore witness, “I saw the Spirit descend as a dove from heaven and remain on him.’” (John 1:28-29, 32). Thus it is John the Baptist who “answers” Isaac’s great question—two thousand years later.
