"the moment of influence is when you realize that, although you're no longer reading one of these books - the language of the book having moved through you - somehow the shape of the field which held the language remains, is somehow an imprint, And once I realized this had happened to me, I recognized that a part of me wanted to write novels that would resemble these emptied-out fields." absolutely Obsessed with June and Thena. Their romance is So. Good.

I also feel creatively invigorated like I haven’t ever before in Gladman’s discussion of writing fiction. Her language is so porous to the messiness of human experiences while being so skilled and precise. This was my first Gladman, but will certainly not be my last.

Magnificent!!!!
