Status Updates From Still Here (Soft Places, #1)

Almost done with it and I just haven't really been convinced of the romance - Issaky isn't really given any pov, so I don't really know why he likes Ellis. Ellis obviously has stuff going on with his mom, autism, etc, but the dead dad and mom stuff haven't really been threaded throughout. So I don't really know the stakes or why he even still lives with his mom. Or why/how is Issaky rich at such a young age?
