There’s been no romance or flirting so far but omfg the chemistry they have? I don’t think I’ve ever been this excitedly looking forward to two characters getting together. They are going to be an amazing match.

see this is what I'm talking about, Wu Yu had a full on mental breakdown and just completely (and violently) fell apart - cue the usually stern and cold Bu Chonghua going full on caretaker mode - being uncharacteristically* kind, noticing every detail, aaaa. Yan Xie from the prequel also did this but he always ruined it by some dumb ass joke. Bu Chonghua is better. *(since no one gets to see this side of his ever)

As someone who likes seeing characters have panic attacks, fall apart mentally, have crashouts… this book fucking DELIVERS. Holy shit

Okay I need to edit my MTL. Manually moving all the highlights will be a pain but I’m tired of Bu Chonghua changing to Zonghua and most of all - being called Infantry Detachment xD

Mmm sudden urge to come back to reading this. Why did no one tell me detective/crime solving danmei is sooooooo good.

Bu Chonghua is basically a more serious version of Yan Xie and Wu Yu is a less serious version of Jiang Ting. And I actually like this better? :D Wu Yu cracks sarcastic jokes to break tension and is more approachable and Bu Chonghua doesn’t ruin serious moments with fart jokes.

Oh ok so the author changed her mind about Bu Chonghua going to Yan Xie’s wedding but she didn’t change how Yan Xie had just puked all over him. And then she had Wu Yu also puke all over Bu Chonghua. Poor guy, to be just full body puked on by two separate grown men xD

Ugh I kinda hate the enemy part in enemies to lovers, like why do they treat each character other so badly :( you are both traumatized and need each other, damn you slow burn, get together and start healing, get some comfort after all the hurt! It kills me to see them both being so lonely but also snapping at one another :( I suspect Bu Chonghua already has a lil crush but that makes Wu Yu’s coldness all the worse

Sometimes you can pinpoint the exact part, the exact line, where you started to love a character. This happened to me once Bu Chonghua said “I’m home” to his empty apartment, immediately in love with this broken man.

WTF I did my own MTL of the raws and chapter 7 in the fan translation is missing a huge chunk?! Wu Yu gets shown a sketch of the skull and brings up the shaman rituals to Bu Chonghua, which is then followed up on in later chapter. This never happened in the FTL which is why the later chapter felt weird, referring back to something that didn’t happen. Did they just skip this? Or are my raws some updated version?

ok nevermind I take back my last update, I just MTL'd the raws and these ALSO don't have the breaks between paragraphs. You know, like one or two empty lines to separate different scenes? Chapter 11 is a confusing mess because of this D: so I can't be angry at the translator.... tho I might stick with MTL because ugh the fan translation is ROUGH. It reads like some older MTL... :(

Oh I love Bu Chonghua already.

So far pretty good, Wu Yu and Bu Chonghua are very different from Jiang Ting and Yan Xie (that's always a big worry when reading more books by one author, they might just recycle the characters and their dynamics)

“Bu” is such a cute surname. Almost as cute as “Chu”. Too bad this Bu here is a serious man… with such a cute sounding surname it’s so hard to see him this way :D

Oh wow they weren’t joking, the first chapter alone spoils so much of Breaking Through the Clouds. This is one of the cases where you really CANNOT start with the sequel

So the guy who crashed Yan Xie’s wedding and who had also puked all over him (twice)(not at the wedding tho) is this book’s main love interest? Color me intrigued.
