Be a student of your student - so far the overarching theme. I appreciate that shes explaining the ways that you can practically go about doing so. However, she’s made several broad, sweeping statements without any evidence to back them up. Which isn’t to say that it doesn’t exist - I would just appreciate it if it was also included.

I like the premise of this book so far. The topics and conversations are not new to me, as a teacher, but they are more relevant now that I am schooling my own children.

I am really enjoying this. Susan Wise Bauer has my utmost respect, truly!

“I have perfectionist leanings; I am the mother of perfectionist. And I’ve realized that it is immensely important to help our gifted, good kids fall on their faces. The only way to reassure kids that the world won’t end if they fail is for them to fail, and see that the world goes on.“ (p 76)
