One attribute that describes Mrs. Jones would be that she was very merciful. After Roger—who tried to steal her purse—had been caught by her hands, she didn't do anything back, but treated him like her own son. "Then, Roger, you go to that sink and wash your face," "Well, you didn't have to snatch my pocketbook to get some suede shoes...You could of asked me." With how she had acted, she was shown to be merciful.

At first it surprised me that Mrs. Johns decided to show kindness to the boy that tried to rob her. But then I figured that she knew the boy wasn't some kind of thug. On page 1 she asked if she turned, will the boy flee. He responded with yes. "'If I turn you loose, will you run?' asked the women. 'Yes'm,' said the boy." This shows that she found out the boy was honest and showed kindness to him.

An interesting part was when Roger, after trying to steal Mrs. Jones purse, was deciding whether or not to run out of the house. Roger had the opportunity to run out the front door and grab her purse on the way out. The text said "The door was open. He could make a dash for it down the hall. He could run!" (2). This proves that after being captured by Mrs. Jones, Roger struggled with the decision to run out the door.

On page 1, one trait to describe Ms. Jones is empathetic. During the story, Roger tries to steal Mrs. Jones' purse, but she catches him. After talking to him for a while, she brings him home and makes him wash his face. Eventually, she says "I have done things, too, which I would not tell you son-neither tell god, if he didn't already know." (1). This proves that she can relate to him because she did bad things too.

Mrs. Jones is a very generous and forgiving character. When Roger tried to steal her purse, she didn't turn him in to the police or anything, she just picked him up and took him home. Not only that, but she made sure he was fed, cleaned, and she gave him money for shoes. "And your face is dirty. I got a great mind to wash your face for you." This proves her generosity and kindness, as well as how forgiving she is.

Mrs. Jones was empathetic. Rodger, tries to steal Mrs. Jones's purse to get himself new shoes. She ends up taking him home and teaching him a lesson. In the text it says "I have done things, too, which I would not tell you, son-neither god if he didn't already know"(3). This shows that Mrs. Jones was empathetic because even though Rodger tried to steal her purse, she still put herself in his shoes.

Mrs. Jones is empathetic. Roger ran up to her and tried to steal her purse because he wanted to buy suede shoes. He was unsuccessful, so she caught him and brought him home to get him cleaned up. She spoke about how she was like him and that she couldn't get some things she wanted. "I were young once and I wanted things I could not get." (2). This proves that Mrs. Jones understood Roger as if she were in his shoes.

One trait to describe Mrs Luella is empathetic. At the beginning a kid tried to snatch her purse. He fell on his back and was grabbed by her. And to ask him some questions. She then brought him to her house leaving the door open. She then had him wash his face and feed him. Then she gave him enough money to buy shoes he wanted. "Least I can do is wash your face. You hungry.(1) This shows that she was empathetic.

One shocking part was when Mrs. Jones let Roger into her home. Although Roger tries to steal her purse and gets caught, she allows him into her home, lets him wash his face and eat some food. "When she got to her door, she dragged the boy inside, down a hall, and into a large kitchenette-furnished room at the rear of the house." (2) This proves that this was shocking because she brought a stranger into her home

One trait to descibe Mrs. Jones is thoughtful. On page 3 Mrs. Jones fed the boy, Roger who tried to rob her but failed and she still was being nice by taking him to her house and feeding him. "She heated some lima beans and ham she had in the icebox, made cocoa, and set the table"(3). This proves that Mrs. Jones was thoughtful even though Roger tried to rob her.

Mrs. Jones was forgiving and caring. Roger tried stealing her purse since he wanted new shoes and he failed. Mrs. Jones then took him to her house to clean him up and feed him, even though he had just done a crime. "Then, Roger, you go to that sink and wash your face" (3). She understood his troubles and made sure that he wasn't dirty and that's why I felt she was a caring, forgiving, person.

One trait to describe Mrs Jones is sympathetic. Mrs Jones is sympathetic because someone tried to steal her purse and instead of sending them to jail she takes him to her house and washes his face, feeds him dinner and tells him about her life. "You ought to be my son. I would teach you right from wrong. Least I can do right now is to wash your face. Are you hungry?" (1). This proves Mrs Jones is sympathetic.
