Yay got my reading flow back, it was the bad translation causing me to lose interest. The MTL of course isn’t perfect either but it is SO SO SO SO MUCH better than the FTL.

Welp after reading one chapter I gotta say that other than the odd mixed up pronoun, my google translate MTL is sooooo much better and easier to read than the fan translation on the website, which is at times barely comprehensible and kinda ruins the novel… for example “black cop” of the FTL is a “corrupt cop” in the MTL and so on. It also just flows so much better.

So just for fun I ran the barely comprehensible chapter 53 thru google translate and I got a better translation than what's on the FTL website. "Water army" is now "online trolls" and the whole dialogue suddenly makes sense. I suspect the fan translation website used some older MTL (since today's google translate is insanely good). I might just switch to a MTL that I have just made with the original raws, idk

I’m really struggling with the translation quality. If it wasn’t for the footnotes I would think this is a MTL… might be an edited MTL. The translation started out very good, then got awful, then good, now we are back at awful, so bad that I can’t even understand what the hell the characters are saying.

Bro when does the romance start. Yan Xie finally noticed that Jiang Ting is hot but… nothing more. It’s not even slow burn cause there’s nothing burning aaaaaAAAA. I was promised a novel with spice damnit

How do people even determine who the ML and the MC are? I saw everyone saying that Yan Xie is the ML but he has way more screen time than Jiang Ting and we also get more of his POV. We don’t get Jiang Ting’s thoughts shown almost at all, with him being all mysterious… he did appear in the story before Yan Xie did tho, so maybe it’s that whoever shows up first is the MC?

I’m lowkey convinced chapter 45 in my file is MTL because at times it’s just barely comprehensible. Old school MTL at this since my recent MTL of BAB was perfectly fine. Sigh.

Volume 1 finished! The first case was really fun, I like how it all wrapped up in the end. Yan Xue was annoying sometimes and I really can’t tell all the cop side characters apart (aside from Han Xiaomei), but I don’t think they matter all that much… As for the romance between the leads - it hasn’t even started yet (that one kiss doesn’t count), the slow burn is slow indeed :D I’m excited to read more!

Oh man I hate it when suddenly the fan translation gets bad and I’m wondering if I’m having a stroke or if the page just doesn’t make sense. Especially when it’s just once in a while, just bad chapters or parts. Wtf is happening aaaa :D

Ngl the “funny” behaviour and comments by Yan Xie throw me off, it’s kinda out of tune with the seriousness of the rest. It’s just weird to have the main love interest also be the comic relief :/
