Nothing about the world building makes any sense. I guess that the author is trying to make this a "high state" issue, but it makes no sense for it to be high steaks!

The consequences for a late delivery are completely out of line. No one would be a messenger if they could end up a slave for 50 years.

How is removing a bike seat faster than locking her bike? "Yanking a bike seat off" is not usually that fast. Even with quick releases, it would be faster to lock the bike then to take the bike seat.

it’s me reading all of TA White’s backlog trying to find crumbs of what the firebird chronicles made me feel

That was fun in a quirky way. Looks like I've found a new Urban Fantasy series to follow.

This is amusing in a low key way. Aileen sees herself as having a millenial's distate for being told what to do and who to respect and yet she chose to serve in the US Army.
I'm enjoying watching her get deeper and deeper into trouble in a secrect supernatural world that she was forced into when a vampire turned her and left her for dead.
I like how solving the mystery integrates the world building into the story.

Had this audiobook in my library. Felt it’d be a waste of a credit if I didn’t read it. Hope it’s good🤞.

I really liked Aileen's attitude and independent nature. The world-building and backstory had the right vibes and I generally enjoyed this read. The culprits were super obvious though, but not to the characters. And the characters weren't really likeable. If any of them become a love interest then I'm not gonna be happy because they all did shitty things. T.A. White seems to like violent AH MMCs, but I don't.
