DNF just not for me. I don’t think I like this authors style and dialogue is painful

This is 1000% more about the story than the romance, which I often enjoy, although I didn't realize I was signing up for that this time. Still, it's good.

The love interests finally had their first conversation 😂

Refreshingly, it's not remotely insta-love, and in fact, the MC has barely spared a thought for the other MC so far 😂
Full fledged characters in a full fledged cast set in a full world, just like Master of Hounds. RESPECT

Where is the romance? This isn’t even a slow burn. It’s a no burn.

I am flabbergasted at the implicit classism and racism being displayed. The story so far has taken place in Detroit and Chicago. Len’s commentary about those two cities is loaded with biased statements about crime, “self-destructive” habits, and more. It’s beyond annoying cause when Len talks about rich areas it’s all rainbows and sunshine.

Len is such an annoying character already. Zorah lets him live rent free at her place and because of some guilt he donates what would’ve been rent money to a charity. Fair! So why does he keep making passive aggressive comments about Zorah and Ram’s wealth? It’s weird and doesn’t make sense.

Like, that's what I mean! First it's vampire lore, then a paragraph about the beat up couch, then a chunk of text on a character's kinky sex life. And we still don't know anything relevant to the actual scene.

So far, the prose has been all over the place. Everyone is making faces at each other, I don't know who is speaking what lines, the characters are switching topics worse that a group of seven year olds . . .

can we all agree that the guy on the cover looks like Witcher Geralt of Rivia? but like the slimy sleezy version that wouldn't go "hmm"
