Status Updates From Crown of the Phoenix

I'm mostly skimming already-- take out the sex and this would be good for middle grade. It does read like I was reading a fantasy from that age range-- doesn't make it bad.

The writing seems...um... juvenile... overly simple. But we will see.

I think … I’m giving up on this one for now. Maybe I’ll try and come back to it later, but I’m in no hurry. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It is so BLAND. I am really struggling to get through it. I’ve read three other books since the time I started this one. I’m seriously considering DNFing it.

Honestly, I’m struggling with this one. The writing just … doesn’t grab me and hold on. It isn’t *terrible*, but it isn’t attention-stealing, either. There are also some formatting issues concerning line spacing. In some paragraphs the lines are crowded close together which makes reading a little difficult. I’ll assume it’s a printing issue but… 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m enjoying it better than the prequel so far. It’s still not the best writing I’ve ever encountered but the story is enjoyable enough to keep reading.
