Status Updates From Deadtown (Deadtown, #1)

This is getting very exciting now. I'm happy to have found a new-to-me Urban Fantasy series that reads like a thriller but I'm wondering whether I'm headed towards a cliff hanger ending here. Still, it's got me so firmly hooked that I'd just roll straight on to the next book in the series.

Chapter 6, which goes back into Victory's childhood, was a welcome change of pace and tone that showed me there'll be more to this book (and the series) than sass and flash.

Fast, slick, original, I've slipped straight into this story. I love the idea of a section of Boston being quarantined as a Disaster Enclosure Area (DED) because of a zombie plague and then becoming Deadtown, where all the non-humans are made to live.

Demon-slaying shapeshifter would truly believe that her pseudo-boyfriend would try and kidnap her? Not the biogeneticist’s crew, not the master of the Hellion, her boyfriend. My God, this goes way beyond my ability to willingly suspend disbelief. I loathe quitting on a book, but this one is pushing all of my proverbial buttons…

Okay, I rarely do this, but I’ve got to get this off my chest. I’m 205 pages in and I don’t know if Mrs. Holzner is just a poor writer or if she intentionally made her heroine pathetically stupid. There are several different plot lines at work, and VV seemingly always jumps to conclusions, fails to see obvious connections, and is just plain ignorant. Are we supposed to believe that a successful…TBD
