so far this appears to be a fairly polemical differentiation between two visions of Adam Kadmon. Adam I is the man of dignity, science, mastery of Nature. Adam II is the protagonist of a redemption plot. Predictably, Promethean Adam I turns out to be treated unfairly

He has one interesting idea, that ownership over a project tends to correlate with long term investment. He sketches an anthropology of varying time preferences. Temporal orientation is linked to economy; so far, so good. Psychology empirically confirms this correlation: some cultures really are more past/present/future oriented. Not sure how that becomes an apology for hereditary aristocracy?

I have pretended to have read more of Hadot than I really have. Time to fix that.

Hoppe thinks private property is part of a 'natural' order; interesting concept of nature

I hope this is one of the last far right intellectuals I read for a while. I want to understand why this book convinces people of outlandish stuff

finished the intro and stuff on substance. skimmed Stanford encyclopedia article - Shields is right that the stakes are invention of bqb. interesting angle is showing why this was arbitrary without lapsing into Kant's solution. found a citation from Patzig in V3 of articles on aristotle that I should find in a library.

Understood as an elaborate, roundabout, argument for priority monism, it works.

Worth reading for anyone remotely interested in object oriented philosophies. Wolfendale effectively deflates the hype surrounding 'allusive ontology,' exposing it as a mixture of poetry and philosophy that contains the virtues of neither and the vices of both. While the book ostensibly treats Harman, the arguments can be fruitfully applied to the short-circuits indulged in by a host of other OOO-type theories.
