Taking a bit longer than it would if I wasn’t highlighting everything. Definitely going to have to go back to this one after I learn even more.

The writing is excellent. I heard this is a great read and right off the bat it’s engaging.

Probably going to be done with this tonight but it’s a much better book than the more liberal feminist book I finished recently.

This one isn’t going to take that long because I’m finding it super interesting.

If I’m reading this right China Miéville seems to be a trot or a least someone heavily involved with trots. Still lots of good things in the book but it’s pretty glaringly obvious in a section.

To be fair on the page count there’s like 40 pages of intro that are in Roman numerals. I’m taking my time because the book is 1 of 3 introductory texts recommended by Decolonize Palestine’s reading list. This one has a more long form essay feel to it. I’m making lots of highlights and annotations.

The dates being the current year is weird as hell. Society has deteriorated a bit more than current. Mutual aid everywhere. Climate change in full effect. Fires in what I am assuming Altadena/Pasadena area. A bit close on the nose so far.

Never read this in high school. So far it’s not bad but the main character is a narcissist, manipulative and whines about everything.
