Feels very biased and lacking nuance, but the stories of these infamous Australian criminals make for some interesting reading. I'd just like a more balanced and thoughtful approach to the subject matter.

Story's very sparse on details - all we're told about a New York restaurant the protagonist visits is that it's "ritzy", and we meet Barbara Straisand with zero time spend describing her - and the writing comes across almost amateurish at times, but so far I'm not bored and I'm interested to see where it goes.

Really enjoying this one. The writing's top notch and offers a balanced perspective.

Sorry, I can't talk about it

Not at all like the movie. There's so much more character drama in the book. I can imagine Stephen King reading this and getting the idea for IT. This book has similar vibes; the monster kind of serves as a backdrop for all the crazy stuff in the characters' lives. I have yet to see how it all turns out, but I'm expecting it to get wild. Maybe not cosmic-talking-turtles-and-giant-spiders wild, but wild.

Books like this make me glad for my normal, boring life.

A really fascinating book and so well written. Patrick Winn knows how to spin a yarn. The stories in this book are wild. Some of what these people did reads like something out of a Hollywood movie. I'm learning so much about a culture I never even knew existed while getting my fix of organised crime. So far it's a 10/10
