The last 15%-20% of this book has better writing and character moments. It’s not worth the payout. I feel like everything else lazily got us here, and it would have been more complex and add to their tension and growth as a couple of they understood their parental link earlier. Joni is so flat, overcomplicated, and unrelatable. Sasha is a cardboard cutout. Joni’s mom is the best character.

Where is this going? Dunno. But I’m too far in to quit.

I’m listening to the audiobook and I’m enjoying the setting, the concept, and side characters, but I fear this is my least favorite of hers. Joni is extremely frustrating as a main character, and for her to judge Sebastian for withholding who he was when she withholds how much she sees of him in their second kiss was annoying. And when are we going to finally acknowledge their parents knew each other!!
