Honestly this book is so good, I wasn’t expecting to end up enjoying it so much. It’s definitely better than the first (though I did enjoy that one a lot as well).

I haven’t read this much in one sitting in quite a while. I’ve finished the first book - Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, which I haven’t read for many years. It’s so cool and brings a lot of enjoyment to revisit a book that I loved so much and read and had read to me so many times as a kid.

I'm considering more skepticism towards the "copyright" argument. Obviously there has to be more nuance within copyright arguments but overall it is very unnecessarily restricting and uneven. I feel like Disney's hand in copyright law is a good example of this.

I had never thought much about Shakespeare borrowing text before, but apparently he did a decent amount. Nearly a whole passage from The Tragedy of Antony and Cleopatra is a slightly reworded one from Plutarchs Lives.

The summary of how many ways something like Shakespeare can be interpreted is interesting, pointing out how his works can be directed as something that comes off as very left-wing or right-wing. It reminds me of more feminist interpretations of Romeo and Juliet. When a work is so broad and influential it can become a carrier for almost any message.

As always George Orwells writing is fantastic. He brings a scene to life so well, as his commentary is witty and interesting. I am very interested in learning more of the Spanish Civil War, and will likely do more research on it following this reading.

This is a book that was covered in one of my classes in my first semester. We only read an excerpt of it for class, and I found that I could not name more than a handful of female artists. The intro carries a good amount of nuance and Hessel iterates that there are so many more facets that go into art than being a woman, and that this book is simply recognition where it has lacked

I feel like it's getting more and more into cringe romance territory as it goes on. Like the arguments between Evelyn and Celia are just getting very petty. It's sorta becoming a 'sexed up abusive lesbians' situation and that is starting to become boring. Like it can be a bad romance, but I feel like it lacks a lot of the nuance that it could have, as especially Celia feels like a pretty flat character.

I had heard that this book had a lesbian romance but I completely forgot. The romance so far is written very well though

As far as YA goes so far I'm enjoying this quite a bit. The story itself is quite intriguing and although the main character does follow a good amount of the YA conventions there is also a lot of originality with her. Honestly I don't know weather this is even actually considered YA? Though it's not the most intellectual it's definitely been written for older audiences.

The writing switching from first person to third person mid sentence is very interesting. It makes a lot of sense with the scene though.
