Really discouraged by how slow I've been reading. I've been obsessing over every word I read, and my overall mindset when I read is foggy and detached. Idk if it's stress or something else, but as much I want to get through all these books, actually sitting down and reading them has become a massive challenge.

Haven't made absolutely any progress in this book in like 2 days, because I got thoroughly wiped out by a sickness, and I'm so coooold.

I got fever dreams.



I'm sure I'm alone in this, but I would take a night full of traumatizing, gut-wrenching nightmares over a night full of typical fever dreams. Call me crazy.

Gonna make progress tomorrow and I'm GONNA FINISH THIS BOOK BY MARCH. Whether I like it or not.

I may have been falling asleep while reading this last night, but I made sure to make it to my 300 page checkmark before 😴😴😴

I don't think it's anything against the book, I just got smacked in the face by some type of sickness and now my bones feel like they're melting.

But I got to page 300 😃

Premier Constantine Tyrus is gonna be one of the coolest villains in YA literature for me. The more he gets fleshed out, and the crueler he gets, the more I'm convinced of this.

I've got to stop staying up this late.

One thing about writing an empathy link is that it's hard to translate the emotions to the reader by showing and not telling, which is my majooor drawback right now. I can be told 1000 times that the character she's linked to is feeling some way, and that it's affecting her in all these ways, but it just hits my squishy body and bounces off.

I'm very squishy.

Really liking this book so far. A very smooth transition from the grandiosety of the last climax, also considering a 6-month time gap. The fresh dynamics combined with the familiar characters and world and dynamics work well, especially since there's no need for info-dump recaps.

The new dual pov is sudden, but very much necessary and serves the book well.

Don't let me down pls, book 😭😭

This climax is actually really intriguing and I'm really genuinely curious about what happens, but parts of the action sequences and especially specific details are beginning to feel like they're straight out of the first draft.

They have masks covering their mouths, how does she know the other guy is smiling?

The Ghosts are blind, yet "it's voice changes when it sees our fleeing figures."

I cozied up for a nighttime read, as one does after working a closing shift and before going to bed, and i read for 2.5 hours.

I'm in disbelief at how EMBARRASSINGLY few pages I read.

Why does every single human in this book have to be so mean?? 😭😭

I cannot STAND books that look like an oversized army of toddlers threw up all over the cover whenever a single touch of oils from your hands touch the cover.

My hands sweat a bit when I read, sue me.

Ignore me pausing in the middle of the most intense battle sequence yet of the whole book where something major was just revealed and it's about to get horribly interesting, all because it's 2:30 AM and ya boi needs to go to sleep and try to fix his "sleeping schedule".

Kinda not a fan of Talin's character. Like I get it but also I don't get it. Makes for some kinda difficult times where I'm left making this face 🤨 and this face 🙁 and this face 😬 and this face 💀

Still struggling with slow ahhh comprehension capability AKA my brain is slower than cold syrup.

It's a fine book, immediately bringing me back to the familiarity of Marie Lu's brutality to her characters.

Some clichés and unbelievable characters.

Not in love with the book, but I'll admit that I'm definitely intrigued.
