i’m a day behind schedule 3
there’s just too much to say in a little update like this. this book is just so thematically tight with such concise use of words. i have a huge fondness for paper books (i need to get myself copies of the series! how could i have overlooked this!) but it’d be nice to have an e book so i could easily search for words when they come up again in later chapters. so subtle!

i think i can hit a four day reread
but! thematically and plot wise everything picked up the the start of book 2 is laid out in the first chapters of this one! how great is that! this is insane so far on the reread the way clues and hints and laid out for how book one unfolds but also the threads of the greater world that are laid down for book 2 so far…. ah!!! so good!

i can’t believe i forgot how fucking good these books are. i had so much fun with the first one i started taking notes and to my dismay i have no clue at all where they are now 😓😢😭 this series remains my number one fantasy (i guess?) recommendation

girl i’m ready to get off this ride. at this point the book is way too long and way too ambitious. get a grip. just because something is a good idea doesn’t mean it’s a good plot. also if you are gonna derail the climactic fight because of the romance subplot YOU NEED TO DEVELOP THE ROMANCE SUBPLOT. SORRY BUT JUST DECLARING THEY LOVE EACH OTHER DOESNT COUNT AS DEVELOPMENT.

idk in addition to my documented notes on the romantic aspects of this book i feel we’ve lost the plot. why was a pivotal character only mentioned over halfway through before dropping out of the story again? await my review

1.) this book is remarkably rectangular. the corners even along the spine are noticeably sharp just upon picking up the book. book sharpness isn’t something you notice until you pick up a sharp book.
2.) has the painfully contemporary and conversational narration style of many modern books despite the setting. which is i suppose accounted for in the framing forward but still is distracting fr th historical setting

so good so far. very worldly for a story about faith, but i doubt braestrup would even see those as opposing concepts

A Question of Price is easily the best vignette of the book so far. It is tense & exciting as the political landscape, cultural oaths and bounds, & personal history of the characters is carefully unfolded. that being said it left me with more of a sour taste in my mouth than any of the rest of the chapters have yet. When contrasting duny & pavetta with geralt & ciri it’s impossible not to see wife husbandry plainly

she’s a little bit just like me for real. is it flippant to ask if no one is masturbating in the cage? is that against the rules?

okay so it is clear to me now that by reading this after seeing the show i have missed out on the entire intended premise and conflict of the book… but i am having a ton of fun in marathon world. dexter has a fr goofy streak (more than show dexter i think) and was also living the life of a shojo protagonist… at least until a couple chapters ago

dexter talks a lot about not being human and lacking a soul and feelings for someone who feels things all the time.
