A Question of Price is easily the best vignette of the book so far. It is tense & exciting as the political landscape, cultural oaths and bounds, & personal history of the characters is carefully unfolded. that being said it left me with more of a sour taste in my mouth than any of the rest of the chapters have yet. When contrasting duny & pavetta with geralt & ciri it’s impossible not to see wife husbandry plainly

i’m read this book in high school when having a fairy moment and coming out of a reading slump and finding myself once again in those circumstance i’m back. it’s outside of what i normally read but i do still like this book.

i would compare this to the show if only i could remember the details of the show….

okay so it is clear to me now that by reading this after seeing the show i have missed out on the entire intended premise and conflict of the book… but i am having a ton of fun in marathon world. dexter has a fr goofy streak (more than show dexter i think) and was also living the life of a shojo protagonist… at least until a couple chapters ago

realizing now that this would be a different reading experience if i hadn’t seen the show first

dexter talks a lot about not being human and lacking a soul and feelings for someone who feels things all the time.

unnecessary hallmark ass romance

sort of felt like a debut and then it turns out to be a debut. overall good so far though! main character is sort of like if ethan hawk from sinister was a woman

i didn’t know this when i picked it up but painfully clear this is by two podcasters. a reading experience akin to being trapped in the corner of a bar by two very enthusiastic best friends but you’ve got a good enough buzz going to be along for the ride

i’ll see a thing i want to shoutout (like the use of the word hagiography) but it feels very small by the end of the chapter

highs and lows like any collection so far but really easy to keep turning the pages of

screaming crying throwing up but mostly in anticipation because of how tense it all is. very lake mungo-core in that way. also being someone who’s watched season one of the witcher many times i know how to navigate temporally sprawled povs
