thank you daniel scott. this book understands me. it gave me a kiss and tucked me into bed.

Picked this book up after hearing a description of the cover art by blindboy which was so bizarre and memorable that i literally recognised it instantly when i spotted it in a chazza. O’Faolain seems to be a short story writer akin to Frank O’Connor (my absolute fav) totally obsessed with cataloguing every variety of irish character. First few stories a bit too sentimental for my liking but hopefully bounces back

Bought a new copy on amazon because i have it to finish it 😭

Introduction was fucking amazing, it is however giving crazy Leaving Cert English Curriculum vibes.

This book was 5 stars with several underlined passages (which is a testament because i find it soul crushingly difficult to take out a pen in public to underline things in a book) until i lost this book in pálás. Another stab put through my heart at the hand of this cinema. On a related note, early RIP to a gorgeous gorgeous cinema. I fear i’ll never download letterbox’d once she’s gone.
