God, the amount of blushing cheeks- 😮‍💨

Right when I thought this dinner was getting so boring, these two started cracking me up 😭
The dialogues seem a lot less try-hard now. I'm not sure if that'll stick, but I literally burst out laughing when she was trying to mouth the word "lobotomy" to him, and after a couple of tries his face lit up because he thought she was saying "I love you" or something 😭

This whole "I'm sending you food and giving you cooking instructions over the phone while waiting outside your door and imagining how hot you look doing your job" thing Rowan has going on is so, so miserably unnecessary.
Hope I'll change my mind later. (I don't think I will.)

Honestly? this story makes me question the idea of relationships like this. The concept of knowing each other’s darkest parts and still choosing to stay is appealing, but the trust here feels too fast to be believable. It doesn’t just waltz into your life like that. And I can’t help but picture them as one of those “happy couples” who post cute pics together, but behind the scenes, they're about to kill one another.

Rowan's got a terrible attitude, by the way.

My favorite character so far? Lark. Absolutely Lark. We don't know much about her at this point, but after seeing a few spoilers while looking up this series, I have a feeling I might end up loving her story even more than Sloane and Rowan's.

It's kind of funny how Sloane's friend is like, "You should go out and make more friends," while Rowan's brothers are like, "Dude, what the actual fuck are you doing? She's a serial killer!"

Not only is it getting predictable, but it's also making me wonder why the dialogues feel so... try-hard? Like they're trying a little too hard to sound cool or funny. Also, why are they texting each other the details of their plans? Aren't they killers? Criminals?

Maybe dark romance is my thing after all? 😭 (I've always hated romance romance.)

The first few sentences hooked me immediately, and I really love how this story started. That said, I'm still wondering why she revealed her identity like that. It kind of makes sense... but also doesn't. Still undecided about the character introductions.

*وی سرش را در بالش خفه کرده و از درون فریاد سر می‌دهد 😭*

بکمن همیشه شخصیت‌هایی رو می‌نویسه که به نحوی توی داستان‌هاش تکرار می‌شن، توی همه‌شون.

چرا همه توی این کتاب اشک‌شون دم مشک‌شونه؟

اولین باری که داستان‌های بکمن به دلم نشست، پانزده ساله‌ام بود. با ناراحتی و غم زیادی که اون زمان از روی سادگی و جوانی فکر می‌کردم بدتر ازش وجود نداره، پا به کتابفروشی گذاشتم. چند روز پیش بیست و دو ساله شدم و دوباره با یک غم بزرگ که این بار می‌دونستم گذراست، رفتم به یک کتابفروشی و با این کتاب برگشتم خونه. به معنای واقعی کلمه حس‌ می‌کنم برگشتم خونه...

غمگین نیست، زجرآوره

«من هم آن وسط جز یک رایحه، ردی از گذشته، یا یک پک سیگار چیز دیگری نبودم.»

حدسم کاملاً درست بود، داستان کتاب خیلی به "بایگانی کودکان گمشده" و "اگر به خودم برگردم" شباهت داره. با اینکه آغازش چندان گیرا نبود و فقط به خاطر پیدا کردن تشابه‌ها به خوندن ادامه دادم، حالا که به میانه‌های کتاب رسیدم، به نظرم جذاب‌تر شده و همچنان فکر می‌کنم قلم لوئیزلی دل‌نشینه.

من قلم والریا لوئیزلی رو به شدت دوست دارم، نویسنده‌ایه که دلم می‌خواد بتونم همین‌طور بیشتر و بیشتر ازش بخونم. اما حس‌ می‌کنم این داستان، بیشتر از آنچه که باید برام آشناست. هنوز بین صفحات اولم ولی حس می‌کنم قبلاً داستانی با همین فضا و آغاز رو از همین نویسنده خوندم...

I was reading and thinking, why does it feel so flat? Just like the series (only watched a few eps). Then Rooney hit me:
“Marianne had the sense that her real life was happening somewhere far away…”
Younger me would’ve been surprised to finally read a paragraph that captures her emotions and describes them so simply, yet so perfectly.
15 pages in and I already know why it’s called Normal People. (Not gonna jinx it!)
