Oof. This is terrifying primarily because of the sanity and lack of consistency. The repetition in the prose and the flatness of it is a very slight negative, but an intriguing read so far.

Ugh. This is awful. I really want to DNF, but I also want to be done with this bookmark (only one where I don't have a TBR option). I'll finish this trainwreck tomorrow.

Eh. The first chapter was great - visceral and drew you in. But that's what you need to get published. From there the prose became inconsistent, and yeesh - the main character is anxious and entitled to the point of irritation. Nothing is her fault. It's a 3/5 read so far, we'll see.

This book consists of 3 novellas. I was not a fan of the first - overwritten and under edited. The second began with more promise but it's starting to fall into the same trap...

Nope, still bored. But now I DO care what happens to the main character at the end; I hope she overdoses on sleep meds. That would make the book worth it.

I really hope this book ends with the therapist getting arrested. Other than that, I'm not at all caring about what happens to the main character.

I wasn't a huge fan of novella 3, it was okay, but the shift in tone from heavy metaphysics to a pulpy weird noir was jarring - and, frankly, not as interesting.

50 more pages to go in this novella, this one is moving more slowly for me than the previous two. It's kind of reminiscent of an old gumshoe detective novel but with insectoid creatures that share a common ancestor with humanity.

The second novella, Cavumville, is dense but much more comprehensible than Sisyphean. Sisyphean takes place after Cavumville, and Cavumville is about revivication on the moon, when identies were fracturing literally and metaphorically, but people still had names and identities and histories that are treated almost religiously. This is a really fascinating read.

As the main story took over, the misogyny died down/found a place to make sense within the story, but I still think it could have been cut down by at least 70% and remain impactful. Besides that, the writing is very good and the main character/vehicle for the story around him is tragic.

This book is 4 novellas in the same world, I'm reading one per day. Important to note that the author is an artist and created the illustrations first, then wrote the story to expand. First novella summed up: It is about how human dreams of transcendence become systems of exploitation, and how individuals become instruments for futures they cannot comprehend and will not inhabit. Dense and alien, loving it.

This book is a whole mood, and I am thoroughly, thoroughly, creeped out. I'm a horror connoisseur, so that's a feat. So far it's a 5/5 and I really need to see where this is going.

Eh. There is a lot of misogyny here intentionally, quoted from famous "thinkers" throughout history, and it's still going 43% into the book - we get it already. The surrounding story is just starting to get interesting, but it's bogged down by those integrated quotes.

Sadly, I'm starting to get bored/not caring what happens to the main character. I feel like there is so much more she could have explored, despite limitations. Certainly more to find a solution - take up meditation and transcend or something - in 300 years. At least something more than what she has done.

Fascinating concept, but the way the "deal" happened feels like it was stolen from the TV show Supernatural, and the jumps to the past talking about her childhood are long winded and cringe-y (yes, I already figured that this was a spirited girl who didn't want the typical female trappings of the time, like EVERY other heroine in fiction). I like the "present" perspective and the past post-deal so far.

I'm really enjoying this, but it is a dense, slow read. I read the first story 2x (4/5), the second 3x (plus some research - 4.5/5), and the third once (4.75/5). Not for everyone, but I'm loving it so far.

It got muddled with too-many-perspectives-itis, but it's still interesting. Too many side characters and POV switches muddy an otherwise fantastic read.

I read the original self published version in February, this is the edited officially published 2025 version. On the first page, I started reading and my first thought was "Oh, qntm dumbed this down" *sad face* ...it's still good, but it's not hitting the same. Changing SCP Foundation to the "Unknown Organization" is also lame, I get why, but more fitting names are possible - it doesn't sound technical enough.
