Hoo wee... not quite done yet, but this has become ridiculous/stupid. Might as well finish it but I expect it to be a 2/5.

It's okay so far, too many sex scenes.

Too much filler not enough story. Why would I care about how the narrator met his wife? It's getting kind of irritating, the author must have needed to hit a certain page count.

This is a really well done character study. The author could have easily made Zama a buffoon or an outright narcissist, but the lines are much more organic and blurred. He genuinely has things to complain about, but responds to them in the worst ways, and he has quite an unhealthy ego, reframing situations around himself - but I do believe he truly cares for and misses his wife and children. A hard balance to achieve

I know it's early to be updating, but every sentence is a crescendo... it's too much. It's suffocating. The weight is on every word with no breathing room. I need to give it a bit more time, but it makes sense that this author is a poet first. In poetry you need to make every word count. In a novel, this doesn't work so well.

This is excellent so far, fast read and I'm immersed.

I don't think I can articulate why, but I love this book. It's delightful. (I don't think that's the reaction the author had in mind, but it's surreal grotesque written delightfully)

Good so far, maybe a tad overly descriptive. At this point 4/5.

Really enjoying this one so far.

If I weren't reading this for my book club, the book club I run, I would be DNFing this one around now. Such a tedious read that can't seem to follow a thread to its conclusion.

I don't know how I feel about this one yet. There are things happening, some of them gruesome and some weird, but they are glossed over so quickly that I have to backtrack and reread the sentence to make certain something actually happened amid the rambling.

I'm not a fan of explicit sex scenes in books (fine once in a while, but not like throughout the whole book), and that's pretty much what 90% of the first story is. Not certain how far into this book I'll get if that continues, hopefully not all the stories are like this.

The book is not bad, it's just obviously written by someone who studied writing. The sentences are very "constructed". I find myself forgetting the plot after I take a break, though for all intents and purposes it is interesting.

The sex scenes are written really, really strangely, lol.

I have no idea what is going on. I've yet to determine if this is a good or a bad thing. 🙃

Listening to this on audio during trail runs/gym. It's okay so far. The radium was the most interesting aspect of the story, but it seems to be lost in the shuffle now. I'm expecting this to be 3-4 stars at the moment.

Fun so far, some good stories. Nothing outstanding, but very solid.

This is extremely well written. What a nice surprise, the cover and the blurb are really misleading. This is not a thriller it's a very dark psychological horror involving the fae with a masterfully written unreliable narrator. I hope the ending holds up!

Intriguing! Great unreliable narrator and compelling story. I've been looking for a good fae story and so far this seems to be delivering.

It's okay so far, but I really, truly, deeply do not care about the sister to dead sister dynamic. At all. Like Eyes are the Best Part the family dynamics drone on and drag down.
