omgggggg this is getting me out of my reading slump i LOVE this so far. the villain in this book is so different from the first in series, very insidious / trojan horse like.

Loving it so far and the fact that it's mixed media and the writing is oh my gosh amazing I'm dog earring so many pages great similes and metaphors

...i don't really see the point of this book, it's about this woman who is suffering from either stockholm syndrome / in an abusive relationship, but what's the commentary on it? i'm more than halfway thru, but i feel pretty ambivalent about it.

omg i'm cautiously optimistic about this, i haven't had a five star fiction read in awhile. the caliber of the writing is A+, and i didn't know it would feature a romance as the main vein of the story! based off the cover i thought it was a mystery thriller.

started today and can already tell the difference in writing between McCullough and brands, no offense to the latter but McCullough is the GOAT. His way is more narrative nonfiction, which I prefer, even when delivering facts, he paints a fuller picture of his subjects that just make them come alive.

The power imbalance between the husband and wife sickens me, he definitely married her just so he wouldn't feel lonely he's a horrible husband. And why can't she just fire the horrid housekeeper? Then there'd be no book I suppose lol
