"Despite our friendship, I couldn't wait for the conversation to end." Idk, I think Ivy actually hates Laura. There has not been a single conversation in which Ivy is not feeling this way about Laura.

I lost my grandfather to dementia, and he was living in memory care for 7 years. This character had dementia and died, what, after a few months? I'm not even upset at the writing, I'm just angry that both of my grandfathers spent nearly a decade in memory care when neither of them wanted that fate.
Also, this book is really weird and I am still not really liking it, but I feel like I might as well finish it by now.

I know I've read this one before, but I'm getting Vampire Academy flashbacks.

I don't remember ever wanting a couple in a romance novel to end up together less than these two.

East High in Anchorage, AK... doesn't exist, I coached track up in AK and we went against a lot of Anchorage schools. Also the mall dying?? When I went to the mall in Anchorage, I felt like I was zapped back in time, because of how many people were there and how many stores were open. I'm like 20 minutes into this book and already annoyed at the lack of research. In Fairbanks, yeah the mall up there was dying.

Nat's Nitpick: I've worked in NHL ticketing before (for 3.5 seasons). There is NO WAY that Kip could have gotten in on a ticket with just "Kip" as the name at will call. Outside of that, I am enjoying this.

So...I already commented that one of the characters has my first name. The other has the closest girl's name to my last name. Definitely enjoying the story, the names are only just slightly weirding me out though lol

Definitely weird to listen to (or read) a book where a main character shares my name.

Really weird when you're reading multiple books and 2 share something. Currently, both YA books I'm reading feature a nursing home.
I love Ellen Hopkins's writing, and I'm hoping to continue this one soon.

This book feels so info-dump-y. Not about the characters, but about queer history. Can we please get a plot somewhere? Please? I'm begging.

This is really good so far. I love how it mentions how harsh an environment that AK has. I'm currently in school for parent/teacher conferences and there's a snowstorm. The snow drift outside my classroom window is currently over the bottom of the window. The snow is very pretty, but I know my walk home is going to be awful tonight.
Alaska is not a joke, and the conditions here are unforgiving.

Kind of cool to listen to a book that takes place where I'm living. I'm listening to the audio book, and one of the other girls I'm student teaching with is reading the paperback. Definitely not a happy story, but the beginning takes place on a drive from Fairbanks to Denali, where I'm halfway between.

This is definitely heavier than I expected. Almost like ordering a mousse and receiving a chocolate cheesecake. It's still great, just heavier than I thought it would be.

I was borrowing a copy from a friend, was enjoying this, but moved out of state temporarily. I'm now listening to the audio book, and happy that I remembered right where I left off.

Why does this book read like the author has never met a woman in his life?

It is winter break from school, and I am really enjoying reading all the holiday books I can. I started this during intermission of the hockey game (Sabres won!) and I'm just really happy to be reading for fun, and not feeling like I have more important things to do. I start school back up soon, so I am enjoying it while I can.

A Thanksgiving hockey game? This has got to be a parallel universe, because in the pro sports world, it is well known that pro hockey takes USA Thanksgiving and Christmas off. Canadian Thanksgiving is usually the beginning of the season, so it may or may not be played depending on schedules. That took me out very quick though.

Continuity question: are his jeans in the dryer, or did he get them back and then remove them?

I am loving the sound design of this audiobook, there are ambient sounds or music surrounding chapter breaks, which I'm really liking.

Well, assignments are completed and I drank too much caffeine. It's 03:30 and I am still wide awake. Time to finish this. Maybe I'll tackle my hardcover too.
