The book offers an explanation for the origin of evil spirits.
Fallen angels, often called the Watchers, took human women as wives.
Their offspring were the Nephilim, or giants.
When these giants died, their spirits became demons that roam the earth.

Finally getting to this highly reviewed and recommended read! So far, it’s just ok, but I’ll give it a chance. I’m reading the large print version so I can read it in bed without my contacts, so I predicted I’m about a 1/4th of the way through!

Burnt toast theory, interconnectedness, meaning, purpose… not necessarily what I think heaven will be, but it’s a good story thus far with solid lessons embedded.

The cultural motif of a Faustian bargain in exchange for eternal youth. Idolatry of ignorance, youth, hedonism, and beauty. A picture as a physical manifestation highlighting the inherent dangers of prioritizing aesthetics over morality. Very fitting to read in today’s society. *chef’s kiss*
