Again i feel like this nee creature could have been introduced earlier and shown us why its different instead of the book feeling like it needs to take a pause to explain why its different.

Ok so this part is ok. I feel like this entire fight needed more slow areas. Feels like aerowen could have shown her true form 200 pages ago and the book could have shown how what aerowen is is different instead of the book explaining it. Her backstory being tied to a different persons is ok but im left confused why phoenix doesnt want to be near aerowen when the first book had them around eachother constantly.

Honestly wish we had more time with the father as the demon. I feel like him vs melantha could have been a cool fight and the book could have had some epic fight scene seeing what he coukd do as a sylphenic demon. Battle is still dragging to me and there are characters who really fade with this big of a cast fighting. Havent seen much of aerowen or phoenix. Aladora jumps in and out.

The fight is starting to noticeable drag too me. So much is happening yet not much at all. There seems to be moments where people can have a sit and talk yet it makes no sense to me. It feels like a lot of the dialogue and things happening in the fight could have happened before. Also Aladora’s back and we arent goven an explanation yet besides to basically not question magic.

It feels like a lot of vivalda’s mistakes have been lacking consequence in this book. Her recklessness is rewarded and it seems like everytime there is an issue vivalda either has the right magic or answers to solve it. Wish she had more external consequences since it seems like the issues she had in the first book that i loved with her struggles are taken down a notch in this book.

Im guessing the soul on page 268 meant something to zyla but im unsure what. I find myself skimming parts of the battle even unintentionally but at certain places i dont find myself missing much. Phoenix is back and Aladora are both back which is kind of cool. Still feels like you could have vivalda’s, silva’s and maybe zyla’s pov and not much would change and no context would be missing

At the beginning of the battle they agree no more secret but secrets keep being revealed mid battle. This battle seems to be dragging on a bunch. Are all the aerolights people’s souls or can melantha create them either way? If she has to have souls where did all the aerolights at the beginning of the battle come from? How long has she been taking souls without people trying to stop her?

Silvas new form is cool, seems like aerowen doesnt have a distict character trait. In both books she is just kind of their and blends into the background. Kind of feels like the “weak one” in both books and kind of feels like a worf character. She seems to be used in the first book to show how powerful vivalda is and in this book to show how powerful melantha is. Not much else to say so far

Kind of feels like its a character 1 have your coold moment, character 2 have your cool moment and i feel like the other povs dont add much of anything and this entire part could have been one characters pov. Still have issues where Aerowen doesnt have anything personality wise distinct about her. Very long battle scene so far that drags at times. Feels like it was written for a movie more then for a book

Issues with pacing and characterization. Some scenes drag and it feels like i could skip 2-3 pages im some sections without losing much or any contest. There is definitely improvements with descriptive words though. Why doesnt the father know about his oldest daughter? Why didnt melantha infect any pf the citizens or even attempt to go after riverlynn? Vivalda is a self insert of the author potentially.
