They contact Wit with a scion and he was uncharacteristically direct as he always is with Shallan. They decide to get to her before the ghost bloods can.

Adolin is disappointed that they only got 12 Connor Soren to sign on to be wind runner bond but it’s a good start and they have made many repairs to the relationships

Noten announces that there is honor in men but that he is conflicted about bonding. He wants to refound the navy and support the effort from the cognitive realm. Potentially helping recruit.

Her mind is still splintered and some memories are repressed but she has mostly taken in Veil. The her old Is afraid of everything. He asks her how often she peers into the spiritual rhelm while sketching and although confused she realizes he is right. That she pulls on this realm for her art which is why her portraits always connect so well with people..

The death rattles were mentioned again at the top of this book. We still don’t really know what’s happening there. Likely something to do with a dirty taking over as investiture leaves the body.

Hallam is still at lasting integrity with adolin and the herald. She discovers that she had bonded two cryptics. One is a deadeyes although more physically frail than maya.

Witt was cryptic as always but he spoke as if knowing the wind was asking for help. He seemed to think that they would not meet again. Whatever taravangiaj did to him is having a physical effect on his body and mind. When they are done Kal speaks to dalinar who asks him to try therapy on Ishtar the Harold and Szeth. He also asks him to be the heir to the throne of uritheru. Syl has been more and more real recently

Kaladin feels good for the first time in a long time. Despite losing Teft he feels like he is not wrapped in darkness. He hears the wind speak to him. Wit refers to it as the old magic founded before the splintering. He speaks to wit for a while and as ever it’s a mixed bag. Wit encourages him to play the flute and actually teaches him how to play one of the rhythms of Roshar. W begs him to listen to the wind

The big reveal in this chapter was that the storm father was guiding him before dalinar and actually appeared to him which he never does to D. S realizes that G was more ambitious and selfish then he realized so He abandoned G and viwed never to help his family again. This explains the distance and reluctance to divulge secrets to D later

He wants to become a Harold, immortal king

The republic casts them away and are now pawns to the powerful foreign government. Kitay manages to send a message to Rin by carving a note into his arm which appears in Rins. With the help of venka and ramsa who does they escape on pirate ships to lead the southern rebellion

On the eve of their escape Nezah brings Kitay venka and Rin out drinking. They want to say know to escape but think it will be too obvious if they both say no. They truly have fun until Nezah literally stabs Rin in the back with a knife. She awakes to find she is in chains with Baji and Suni. The other two are shot and killed while she is brought into hespians control.

The hespians who started the first poppy war and hate shamans are the true bug bass. And they are now here in numbers as the republic and former government have ground each there down to nothing. She knows she needs to escape as she has outlived her usefulness. Her and Kitay plan to escape either the Cike while lying to Nezah and Venka. Seems like her and N might end up together or tragically fall apart

Daji and Rin fight. At first Dajis mind control is too much for Rin but through her anger the phenoix speaks to her giving her strength. This is the first time she heard the words through Kitay. Her Wong suit is digging deeper and deeper into her back after it broke landing to help Nezah. She gouges out Dajis eyes but lets her live knowing that despite being a terrible person she is not the real enemy.

Rin saves N and then vice versa. They kill the wolf General and seemed to have won the battle as they both wake up on the beach. And has summoned his God and ran smokes him out to send the God away.

She calls him a coward and he lashes out

The twins family end up killing some of the Hesperian happened quite a bit before the main battle, but our is told not to tell anybody this by end, father, as he doesn’t want to lose the support of the hespian

K made a wing suit that allows her to fly, which helps her eventually fight the wind God. She manages to die bomb a couple of the ships getting him to engage before burying him under a mountain with explosives that Ranka and K had set up. Revealed to R what happened with his little brother and why he has a tattoo of a dragon on his back. She doesnt feel empathetic towards him because this is similar to the Phoenix

A lot happened on the plane, ride home from Orlando, Rin and Kitty went back to the Republic, where she ran into her little brother and her mom they tried to get her to do her favors, and the whole thing made her very anxious. eventually they realize that Daji had sent an absolutely massive fleet to wipe out the entire republic in one swoop. The other words from the south tried to convince her to stick with them.

Rin, Kitay, the twins survived. The rest are missing. We meet the Erin’s family who are all epeherial and can speak telepathically. Initially they want Rin dead because they don’t rust speerlies but they see the seal in her mind and know Daji is afraid of her. They show her a vision of the trio as young hot headed group acting like idiots and killing the waders daughters. These people are dope

Totally smoked by the wind shaman Rin released in the first book. He is crazy but seems to be fighting for Daji. He’s wayyyy too strong for them and even beats up on Changran. Rin and Kitay are swept into the current towards a waterfall

On one hand they have been tremendously successful as the only men with a navy on the other they know this advantage is fleeting. Dani’s militia is adapting planting bombs in the rivers using animal intestine as water proofing. They fall into a trap and Nezah is revealed to be a water shaman (about time). Rin is probably going to have to mentor him which will break her seal. They have a battle in a lake and are

They believe themselves as completely superior to the Nikari and they are an obvious dig on white saviors and Christianity. Rin is spiraling again but without drugs. She fully unleashes her selves as a foot soldier and gains a brutal reputation. Eventually fall begins to frost into winter and they are inching closure to either outright victory or defeat. Nazha’s older brother jiyang (spelling) is in a bind

Rin and her troop attack the first of the well fortified cities. It almost ends in tragedy as the federation troops have kept a stronghold in this town. Rin is beyond pissed and instantly wants them all dead. The others are horrified by her outburst and in her anger gets herself demoted and the Cike disbanded. The Hesperian doctors experiments are getting more invasive and they grow frustrated that she is blocked

The first town they reach is made an example of and the following towns fall into line quickly until the republic is held up by a river storm. Rin is reminded about the wind shaman they let free from
Prison. Shamanism has been much less relevant in this book compared to the last. Partially due to Rins block but it’s been all naval warfare

The Cike handled that entire mission which pissed off the commander and he sent them on a ship with the hespians. Kitay started talking about big penisis randomly, I thought he might have a crush on Rin but maybe he is gay? Not super relevant but the sexual interjections in this book have felt out of place so far. Especially as Rin seems so uninterested.

They eventually realize that a fellow singardian graduate (the young cute girl) has been using a liquid version the federation has inside pigs bladder to send little acid bimbs down river breaking after a few days of meandering. The realize Daji must have had there water source poisoned and send the troops to investigate. Kitay and Rin start to mend there relationship. Venda wants to join the fight after her abuse but Nezah won’t let her. He treated her like a crippled little sister.

Still not sure if there will be any romantic connections being crushes in these books. Feels like they would all have shared trauma

The religion of the maker (rings of first law) is similar to Christianity. A human figure is the one in control of making the world and keeping the balance of good and chaos.
Rin hates the interaction reminding her of the mugenese scientist who Kidnapped her and A.

The next morning all the fish are dead. They float in the water in mass. Aratsha the water shaman is in his human form for the first time as he dies

The Hesperian who arrived by blimp make it clear they will not intervene in the war unless the republic seem capable of winning on their own. They are here to insure and take special note of Rin. They demand to run experiments on her and Rin reluctantly agrees knowing there was not much of an alternative. The first time she meets the scientist it’s most base measurements and an attempt to covert her religion

They want to study R to determine if the new republic that is being founded should have a weapon so powerful. Nezha’s mother is revealed to have been studying with them for the past decade and she keeps saying she wants to make him better. This seems to indicate the opening scene where N and his younger brother were attacked by a river spirit. Unsure if she’s trying to cure N or his presumed dead brother.
