Dogman is given the charge of finding a hole in Bethods front

On his way back to the city he is kidnapped by the merchant women he let free in the Dogasta. She was warned to stay away but.she figures she has all the leverage with Sult being told by Glotka that she was dead. She warns him about the gurkish preparing a navy. Yulwei had previously mentioned this as well.

Jazel tastes his first battle plan and negotiations and panics. Luckily Bayaz was there to hold his hand

Glotka is negotiating with his rival in the most charming of locations. A literal pig sty. Through the grunting and odor his rival mentioned that pigs will eat anything then became to a man behind them approaching with a knife. The man is shot through the chest with an arrow. G assumed the man was up to no good and had his practicals set up to kill him just in case.

He points out there direction and the watch tries to stop him from entering the camp before realizing it’s the blood nine and kindof freaks out.
He meets his buddy’s and they have a laugh but Logen keeps getting dirty looks. Seems his time as Bethods right hand man has not made him many friends. We learn he cut shivers older brothers arms and legs off while he was alive and nailed him to a wall

L9 has a letter from Bayaz as he heads north towards the fight with Bethod. Along the way the group he is traveling with is ambushed. He tracks the ambushes through the woods and waits for them to fall asleep before killing all 6 of them then cutting off their thumbs for proof to the southerners. When he arrives at the battle he sees West right away and asks after the northerners

G tries to bribe one of the close council members only to find that his was the smallest of three bribes that had already been given as mentioned before he goes to see Artie and is pissed when he sees Luther who he has had a distain for ever since the tournament where be helped him cheat

Who has been starting an uprising. This goes counterpoint to the feelings he was starting to have upon his return where he saved a woman being interrogated by the guards just for being poor he feels that he is not the best man for this job and that he doesn’t know enough about the city politics, which is when they tell him that we will B going with him

After a week has passed where they have spent most of that time together she starts to believe him, but is still cautious with her heart. Meanwhile, he is head over heels. He runs into G, leaving her apartment one morning and he later threatens Jay that if anything happens to a, he will torture him and that he should either leave or marry her.
Meanwhile, he is given a promotion to Colonel to deal with the peasants

L9’s group are back in Adua. F and L9 seem to be going separate ways with L9 going north and f following b trying to get the vengeance he promised her. J finds it surprisingly difficult to leave the group, eventually he makes it back home. He immediately looks for Artie, who has waited for him. She is drunk and angry, and thinks he only wants her as a conquest. They have an awkward reunion that ends in tears.

Glotka is surprising Sults bid to become king by blackmailing the people who will be voting. This seems like a good plan however they are also being blackmailed by the other candidates.

Dogman came up with a plan to take backs a city held by Bethods people. He snuck in at night and had Tul grapple over the wall to open the gate.

West and burr celebrate with the generals who both try to take credit for DMs job

Dog man is elected as the new leader of the northerners that defected

F and L9 seem to break up each, deciding to follow their own vengeance, but there is some hesitancy here.

The northerners retreat right as the southern army is about to buckle. Both generals are angry at the other for lack of support, thinking that they had the worst of it west tries to calm them down without the support of burr, but burr appears from his tent, looking, sickly might be the work of Bethods which.

JL is mad that he came all this way for nothing and didn’t get the chance to win honor

F is angry that she can’t find a vengeance

L9 is totally fine. He was just around for vibes.

B is furious and breaks the rock scattering it onto the beach

The whole crew plus shivers surrounds the fear, and despite stabbing him with spears and plunging a sword through his thigh it’s not enough to slow the man down, but he runs away after killing three trees

L9+the gang make it to their destination where L speaks to a giant spirit that has been holding onto the seed all this time. it gives F a rock which B quickly realizes is not the seed, and they have been tricked

Burr still sick with indigestion, pukes a black and bloody mess onto the table of his tent. He passes out and west knows that if the men know burr is sick the battle will fall apart. He takes command telling people they can’t speak to Burr because he’s busy.

Dog man sees the fear who was the man with the blue tattoos they fire arrows, which does nothing to slow him down as they pierce his neck and legs and arms

West Hamburg come up with a plan to get the two squabbling generals to fight together one on the main assault and one in a fling mission with the Northman as reserves on the flanking position, the north army also plans on flaking, but from the other side. Dog man and Cathey are cooking up eggs in the “safest part of the battle” when dog man smells flatheads. C is shot with an arrow under the ribs and eyes.

Glotka is woke up in the middle of the night and told to meet with sult. He learns that the prince has been killed and that he had a piece of cloth from the Turkish emissary shirt in his hand. It feels like a set up. It looks like an eater got to him salt insists that he “questions” the emissary who G doesn’t think is guilty, but gets to confess.

Bayaz introduces everyone to a sister of the magi who is a total bitch. She insists they stay for dinner then stares holes into all of them and is hella snarky with B. So far all three of the magi they have met have told him this is a bad idea but he keeps pushing forward.

L9s band makes it out of the mountains and into a small town. Seemingly where Bayaz grew up. The people there seemed shocked to find travelers and B speaks to them In their language asking to meet someone

He seems Star stuck by the group they have and that they are traveling together.

Sult walks in on looks saying Dogasta has fallen and another emissary has come to search for peace. The man offers to give them a dozen ornate chests filled with nothing to let the people think they sold the country. He passes this into Sult and sincerely hopes the closed council will want peace

He who put his stick in his fire last night should be the first to venture in the cold they say, so he has to go scouting. Following some footprints he hears a man call his name. He is perched above him in a tree. The man named shivers claims he and his 2 score if carls want to flip sides because Bethod is dealing with sorcery and made a deal with the shanka. He mentions the Feared, same as the eater in dogasta

L9s group reaches a mountain pass where the horses won’t be able to follow. They harvest the meat which shocks JL. the going is tough but steady. JL wakes up in the night to some noise to realize it’s F and L9 getting it one not 3 feet away. He is grossed out then sad. He misses Adree and confessed as much to L the next morning. He wants to Mary her.

Dogman is given shit for sleeping with C by the others

West gets back to camp which shocks burr and some of his friends. They reunite for a bit. West tells burr that pike is a Sargent. Him and three tres smoke opium? Hard to say for sure but it’s a brown smoke. Dogman and cathil are getting nasty. Really though she would end up with west

Sult was actually pleased with the work Glotka did in Dogasta. He never expected him to successfully hold the city but instead was thrilled with him outing the merchants, finding the rulers treasonous and holding the city for a month. He doesn’t know about the bank loan. The red haired practice apparently also through in a good word for him

Looks made it back to the city and checked on Ardee who was down bad. She was grieving the loss of her brother who is presumed dead and the debt collectors came after her father’s death. They took everything she anderst owned. Glotka was furious about it and told frost to threaten the collector to bring everything back and in better shape the he left it. He did and Adree kicked the shit out of him

F and l9 make it out of the sewers so naturally they get nasty. It’s pretty awkward, l9 was fast and she was mad and in the end they fell asleep. She woke upset that she had fallen asleep and wanted to thank him for his gentleness and warmth and she did so promptly by hissing at him which then pissed him off. They made it back to the group in one peice to find that a few of the horses had been killed

Logen emerged back in control, exhausted. They plan to follow a river downstream

Dozens of more Shaka are working the forgers and 9 fingers breaks onto the seen. He is in love with the violence and uses the makers sword to cut through arm flesh and weapons alike. F is providing support with arrows which annoys him but there are many shanka to kill. At one point there is a new variant, clad in armor, bigger then the rest but it falls easily enough

They fell through the darkness only a short distance. L9 is mad because F is frankly being a cunt but F is not used to friendship and mistrusts the feeling she is having. She leads them through a dark tunnel guiding L’s hand which is cold and sweaty yet feels nice. They come across 3 more shanka feeding which she dispatches with arrows. Continuing down the path it grows hotter until they come across forges in use

Rushing out they are chased by dozens of not hundreds of the shanka. F feels mollified because she told them she saw something. They are backed into a corner when Bayaz uses his power to kill many of them, cleaving the walls and floors of the buildings around them until they stood on a pillar of stone. L9 and F are hanging by L’s hand knowing they will fall. JL tosses them his coat as a rope but it snaps
