Despite his refusal, much to the shock and anger of the Kaiser, Germany planned to move forward with the attack. The commander in charge passed away in 1913 telling his successor to ensure the right side is strong against British attack. His successor ignored this advice knowing he would need horse to break through the man French line. The whole war was intended to last 39 days from the day they entered Belgium

The German plan on paper was simple. Hit hard, hit fast, don’t let them recover. The planned to send 7/8th of the army into France by way of Belgium (a nation literally created as a neutral zone for all nations). They offered the king 2 million pounds of French silver if they let the Germans pass through peacefully. Now the Belgium king was mutually agreed upon to be a bad person, even he was gobsmacked by this

While other countries showed the grief over kind Edward’s death the Germans did as well but the heart of the people knew the time for their plan was soon. For 15 years Germany developed its plan to destroy France.

So while the other leaders mourned the death of there friend he tried to lay the seeds of war and partnership

He was influenced by a German book released before the turn of the century that turned into a dogma for the German leaders. The book, called Germany and The Next War was about how it was the natural right of a sovereignty to need to increase its power or to burn out. This is backed in history of conquest and shaped the German minds to a need of domination. This was in the mind of the Kaiser through the 00s

In the first decade of the 1900s a book called The Great Illusion was growing in popularity across Europe. Its message was that due to the development of trade, technology, and cooperation there would be no justification for war in the modern world as the aggressors would surely be beaten and dismantled. This belief was strong in the minds of all nobility at the funeral besides the Kaiser.

While Edward was forging new relationships with France and Russia, Henry was trying to siphon these relationships away, but only ended up making enemies

The opening described Edward’s relationship with Kaiser Henry II of Germany. Edward was a massive proponent of national cooperation and toured many of his neighbors counties. He is shown as intelligent, humerous, and courteous and quickly won over new allies. Much to the chagrin of Henry who felt Germany was being overlooked. He comes across, not unsimilar to trump. Angry, self conscious, hollier then thou

Opening on the funeral of kind Edward of England you can immediately tell the prose of this book is phenomenal.
The muffled tongue of big Ben told nine by the clock as the Cortège left the palace, but in history’s clock, it was sunset, and the sun of the old world was setting in a dying blaze of splendor never to be seen again

J confessed his love to A and she said she would wait for him. G seeks after A saying, he will watch over her. He goes to Sult who promotes him to superior of a town in the south, which is as much a promotion as it is a stab in the back. He can no longer look after a after promising her, which is just another moment where someone will let A down
Sult REALLLY wanted F and is pissed that 20 men wasn’t enough

Eventually, they crash through the roof of a building and have to fight to the death inside against inquisitors. Logan shifts into the bloody nine, which seems to be a different personality. He is brutal doesn’t feel pain like others and ends up killing at least six men by himself. F drags him back to where the others are staying, they are followed, but B explodes one of the inquisitor and the rest run

B asks for J to be removed from his mission to Angland and to join his quest to the end of the world. J is not pleased about this. Be wondering where F is sends Logan after her. He finds her surrounded by three inquisitor. They start a brawl that leads halfway across the city. They are out number 20 to 2. They fight on rooftops and in the bleachers of the contest, saving each each other along the way.

A lot happens but the men butcher bethods people. They head south to Angland to fight against bethod. Along the way they bury the weakest who go his monicker by being willing to surrender to Logen

The weakest goes into bethods city to tell him about the shanks and that they are coming. He knows he is the only in that won’t immediately be killed because he is a covered unlike the others. The other men set up a trap incase something goes wrong. It does. Beth ODs men killed the weakest and didn’t hear the warning.
Total brawl breaks out (a bit sleepy when I read this so it was probably cooler than I think)

G feels anger at his mom for this and not telling him but also a glimmer of happiness for the first time in a long time that maybe he has a friend. He accepts W’s plead to look over Ardee

This shit makes me so happy, poor guy has been through the absolute ringer

Late at night west goes to Glotka asking for him to watch over Ardee when he leaves for war. They had been old friends but after G came back he felt that W abandoned him. He felt like if anyone would welcome him back it would have been W but no.

W, surprised, tells G that he came to visit 3 times when G came back but was turned away by Gs mother each time. She didn’t want her son freinds with a commoner

F heals quickly, feels little pain, and sees no color. She has some old blood that makes her the perfect person to carry the seed, still unsure what that means. Bayez recruits her offering her vengeance beyond what she could do alone. She doesn’t trust him but can’t pass up
The opportunity.

At this point his head is pounding and he goes home
To find ardee writing a note to J. He is beyond pissed about her hurting his reputation and beats her. We get a lore dump about there abbusive father and how W left A alone with him after joining the army. She was so happy to get his invite but he just ignored her the beat her. W has a bit of a mental break.

Farro and Y meet with Bayez. Y and B are old friends

West is running around like a chicken with his head cut off as the only man willing to make war preparations. Passing the main gate he sees two soldiers bloodied and a women brandishing a knife. It’s farro. He deals with Yulwei and her to get them into the gate as the have papers promoting such. He then threatens the chief smithy to get the kilns making weapons again

The leave stopping at a view but G is confused because they didn’t climb any steps. On there way back across the bridge they all start to feel the worry leave them. That is until they get to the bridge and find the guard telling them they have only been gone for 30 mins when it felt like hours

He had mentioned a crew going to the tower and coming back soon. We assume they failed because of the time but maybe not

B opens it and the falls shoots up into the sky revealing a room. The room continues two items. A small metal box of that L can barely lift, and what appears to be a weapon. B tells of how the maker used it to kill many. Despite having no blade he claims the blade is in the other side and that nothing can protect from it. Kindof shard blade adjacent.

Inside the tower is massive, way larger than it appears on the outside. The floor is a map of the world, the walls shoot up into infinity with no dealing in side. They also continually move, all the coooridors look identical. B guides them yelling if someone falls out of his path. At this point G is convinced of who he is but not why he is here. J is just scared. They reach a wall with another key hole

G, B, J, and L all approach the house if the maker. There is one man guarding the outside which is a disappointment to B as there used to be 50. They cross over a thin bridge and everyone besides B feels a looming terror. It is an a chamber placed on the door in thin script that is causing it. Edginess call
It the breath of the maker. B uses his “key” to open the door which reminds me of the Skyrim claw puzzle

For one more touch of the dramatic B breaks S’s chair which sends him flying to the ground. Bayez slurps on his soup

B tells them that he has worked in the government a few times in secret over the years naming two highly regarded servants.

This is not enough for S. He demands proof and evidence of the key. B pulls out a long chain from under his tunic and on it is a black bar of metal. He claims he will open the tower tomorrow and asks G and J to be there when he does. Perhaps he picked up on the animosity

The king himself is alseep.

Logen and west talk, west has hired of The Bloody Nine but Logen denies it’s him. He tells west all about the construction of Bethods army and that that he will be no slouch.

Glotka keeps shooting daggers at J because he knows he cheated.

Sult puts on a play about B which pisses B off
He then straight up accused B of being a fraud and asks for proof

Looks tells duly about the letter he found in the college and silt starts plotting some way to reveal that Bayaz is a fake. He asks for g to bring his inquisitors to a banquet in jayez honnor.

At the dinner J is bored. He was expecting to be showered in praise but everyone seems to be focused on themselves . The prince and his fiancé are fighting viciously and without care of there audience

Just as he is about to lose the energy is back and he wins. He is beyond exhausted but victoreous. Borst lifts him into the air to celebrate his victory and congratulates him for winning fair and square. lol.

Bayez congratulated him for a magical preformance and says they will talk.

The king thinks he is his own son and hugs him, telling him his other son is a fool.

J is beyond embarrassed

The best of 7 is quickly down 3-0 when all the sudden j feels this new energy. He is faster and stronger then moments before, he no longer feels the pain from before either.
Another pov switch to Glotka who knows something is fishy. He looks around and spots bayez and knows something is wrong.
Logen accuses B of cheating.
The score tied 3-3 B relaesss the spell and J is all the sudden on the back foot again
