I just can’t with this book. It’s so boring and dry. I wanted to at least make it through the first book since I paid for it but there are just too many good books out there waiting to be read for me to continue wasting my time on one that I’m not enjoying.

Oh my gosh! The yearning! This is the best romance I’ve read in a long time! I have such a weakness for star crossed lovers! If they don’t end up together I am going to die! 😭💔

This book is really interesting so far, but An Ying is really pissing me off right now. Yu Chen has done nothing but help her over and over again. Even if she can’t bring herself to trust him right away, he at least deserves a chance. She wouldn’t even be alive without his help, let alone have made it to the immortal realm.

Ugh this book is so dry. Most of it has just been one giant, boring, difficult to follow info-dump so far. It’s pretty much been the definition of telling rather than showing.

I really hate insta-love, especially when it’s obviously just fueled by lust… 😮‍💨

Ugh Xiao Lanhua is driving me crazy! She is stupid, naive and does nothing but whine and cry all the time. The high pitched, crybaby voice the audiobook narrator chose to use for her just makes it even more obnoxious. I really dislike FMCs like this…

I love these books so much! They always make me want to play Mass Effect 😆

Wow! I’m enjoying this way more than I expected too! The first volume was good but this one is way better! I love the dynamic between Xue Xian and Xuanmin 🥰

I really wanted to like this series but I’m having a very difficult time getting into it. For the most part, I find it very slow and boring. But I also don’t like a lot of Prince Jing’s behavior. He’s overly aggressive, jealous and protective. I mean breaking a man’s jaw and all his teeth just for being a pushy salesman and trying to get Li Yu to buy something? That’s a way too extreme…

I really don’t care for Esmerelda. She’s selfish, self centered, arrogant and desperate for attention. I also really hate how she’s constantly jumping to the most stupidly dramatic conclusions, thereby creating unnecessary misunderstandings and drama. For example, Ignacio runs off to go save someone who is literally dying and all she can do is get jealous because he left her side for a few minutes 🙄

I’m so bored with this book. It’s becoming a real chore to get through. If I wasn’t so close to finishing it I’d probably DNF 😮‍💨

I’m really disappointed that there’s only one long extra in this book and it’s just an AU that isn’t nearly as good as how Gu Mang and Mo Xi actually met in cannon. If I wasn’t concerned about missing out on something I’d probably just call it quits, ignore this extra and be content with the main story 😕

Ugh I do not like the main character of this book. I get that she’s in a shitty situation and she has a lot of people depending on her but she’s just doing so many terrible and inexcusable things to get what she wants. I also hate how she’s so far up on her high horse looking down on and judging everyone around her, especially the MMC.

I finally finished the main story! I’m so happy with how it ended ☺️ I only wish that my reading experience hadn’t been interrupted by the unfortunate events going on in my personal life. I feel like I would have enjoyed the story more if I hadn’t been derailed from reading it for several months, and on the final volume too 😭 Well, onto the extras!

This book is decent so far but I don’t really understand why people refer to it as a Merthur fanfic. The dynamic between the MCs is pretty different and so is the plot. The only similarities that I can see are that one is the prophesied ruler, the other is a mage and they are best friends…. 🤔

This book is so cute, cozy and absolutely hilarious! I’m loving it so far! This is exactly what I needed right now. I’ve been listening to the audiobook while packing for most of the day. It’s really kept my spirits up and had me literally laughing out loud more than once! 😆❤️

This book is so not what I needed right now. I went into it thinking this would be a cute, lighthearted romance. But ohhh no! This book has anxiety and trauma up the ass and the MC’s anxiety is just feeding into my anxiety. I don’t know why anyone recommended this as cozy…

I don’t know what it is about this book. I feel like it’s about the same pace and stakes as The Spellshop, possibly even lower stakes, but somehow I like this book way better. It just has a vibe to it that I really like. Very cozy, warm and comforting. I also love listening to audiobooks that are read by the author. After all, who would know better how it was meant to be read? 😊☕️

I hate the fact that I’ve been too stressed out and depressed recently to actually sit down and read. Thank goodness for audiobooks or I wouldn’t be finishing any books at all. I’m just really sad that I haven’t been able to read any danmei recently because of what’s been going on in my life. I’m also tired of constantly living with stress and anxiety over my finances and living situation 😔

I’m enjoying this so far, but Grim is kind of pissing me off. He’s being pretty unsympathetic and dickish, acting like the curse isn’t that big of a deal despite what it’s doing to Leo and how it’s only getting worse. I can’t help but feel that if the spell was reversed and Grim was affected by it instead then he would be even more desperate to get rid of it than Leo.

I picked this book because I’ve been going through a rough patch in my personal life. As a result, I felt like I needed something cozy, low stakes and comforting. Unfortunately, I’m starting to get the impression that this book might be a little TOO low stakes for my tastes… 😅

Ugh! This woman is a selfish idiot! She’s willing to abandon her own children to run off with a married man who she barely knows. A man who lied to and manipulated her. She doesn’t care about her own children or his children or his wife. What a terrible main character. If this book wasn’t so short I’d DNF just because she’s so insufferable 🙄😒

Can any of my friends who have read this book tell me if it gets less depressing? It’s a really interesting book so far and, under other circumstances, I feel like I’d be enjoying it. I’m just going through a lot in my personal life right now and I’ve been really struggling with reading about all the war and death in this book. I’m not sure if this is the right thing for me to read at the moment.

I hope Misaki gets better as a character because, at the moment, I really do not like her. She’s not a very good mother. I feel really bad for Mamoru. It pretty much seems like she never loved him. She dislikes him and can’t accept him for how he was born. She’s also very cold to him and doesn’t seem to care much what happens to him despite him being her son.

Damn…I’m super bummed about Murong Chuyi… 😔
