sulfa drugs came before penicillin and along with aspirin allowed bayer to grow into what it is today, also sulfa drug discovery/production laid down a lot of the framework for organized drug discovery w drug companies and institutions as opposed to individual researchers just diddling their little tubes of random vs around

sulfa drugs were also derived from dyes

basic premise is pretty interesting, feels like a modern/positivist psychoanalytic perspective that incorporates elements of mindfulness/buddhism

however there are parts that are a bit off-putting / cultish and at times it feels like the book/concepts are punching above where they should, as the author tries to fit his theory of mind/self into society as a whole. if you can see past this, it’s pretty good lol

title could be better. focuses on early trauma more than expected

lot of first half of book is abt how early dynamics with parents/bullying affect the way people behave in present day in diff ways-repressing emotions, hyperindependence, people-pleasing, difficulty expressing needs. suggests practices to work on/move past this

has been good in prompting reflection and introspection regarding things i still carry
